I would say they are like family. I would say also I would say also that they made a lot of good shots.
I would also say that they are a disgrace to hunting.

After reading a lot of the comments etc. about him he seems to be a very generous man and I respect self made people more than someone who mommy and daddy give them everything. It appears this is obviously not the case.
However I still think when hunting there are some things you just shouldn't do. In camp maybe but not while you are taking your picture with the animal.

I loved the guys with the lion. Otherwise I would have preferred to see less shots done in a slower manner. I really didn't have time to appreciate the shots.

Kathi has always brought us such useful, informative posts with redeeming social value.
I can only assume that she has brought this for similar edification:
What not to do at the ceremonial kill scene?

Surely the sacred hunting tradition should not be shamed liked this.

Examples of how to totally disrespect the game?

The many multi-shot "kills" included belie the title too, but so what, we are supposed to keep shooting if it is still moving, so that part is nothing other than false title.

The grievous aspect is from the goofy male "shooters" doing strip tease, back flips, back slapping, and break-dance-imitation wallowing on the blood-soaked ground at the kill sites.

Shooting a snake out of a bush, while the camerman captures it at close range: Why?

I know the family and have hunted with them all, but one, on various occasions and just presumed all Texans were like this?

On my safari calender the Knowlton family is somewhat of a highlight.

Kathi - Just out of interest why did you post this?

i am speechless, i almost donated quite a lot of money to PETA and the taliban.

very poor representation of americans and hunting in general.

the drive-by on the pigs scene is a perfect clip as to why it is illegal to hunt or cull from any motorized car etc. in denmark

shame on them for doing the video and for doing this in the first place.

Sorry if you are offended by this being posted, but it is available to anyone with a computer.

The video is not Photo-Shopped. We can all go to YouTube and make of it what we will. I found it embarassing, but not very.

By the way...nice hat, Dr. Easter.

Good hunting to all.

All that you guys missed was a hideous film clip, filled with ignorant, tasteless morons making utter fools of themselves while killing any number of animals, accompanied by a soundtrack from Hell.

I have not seen a more repugnant exhibition of bad behavior, bad judgment and bad taste.

Apparently, the family behind this execrable extravaganza is from Texas, which I am sure embarrasses most other Texans to no end.

I congratulate and thank Kathi for deleting it, as it reflects poorly on hunting, and will, I am sure, be held up by anti-hunters as an example of hunters in general.

Just plain awful.

I didn't see the deleted video in question - but I am from Texas and enjoy hunting, and have been know to smile in pics with dead animals, hug a friend or at least shake the PH's hand, and have even been known to high five someone. I doubt ALL members of AR are anti having a good time when hunting. I am also guilty of wearing a Stetson and boots. Sounds like "true confession" time again. Big Grin

could have been if you didnt see the video, we are not talking about but doing the harlem suffel on top of the downed lion is in my eye's disrespectfull to that magnificent beast, when it continues with a drive by spotligthing of pigs being outrun by the car and shot besides the car, then im sorry oryxhunter, but yes i find it tasteless and say so here.

when did this turn to, as long as it is legal everything goes.

I have been known to both smile, jumping with joy etc. i just try to show the animal i killed some respect as well, and that were completly absent from that flick.

im from europe, and yes we give the last meal in form of a twig in the mouth, this is a long tradition about honoring the quarry we are after.

i even know a few people from texas, and they are not morons, allthough some of them smile a lot Wink

i am a live and let live kind of guy, but that were just way above and beyond anything i condone and i said it. so who made you the commi leader that wants to control what people with opposing oppinions speak up and protest about. Smiler

505 gibbs asks: "what do I search on Youtube so i can see the video?"

Knowlton was the family name, IIRC.
"One shot one kill" was in the title of the video, IIRC, I was not taking notes.
I have tried searching for it and came to the same list it was on before, but cannot find it anymore.
Have they come to their senses too?

I really don't want to see the video, but I think most Texans respect the animals they hunt. I don't like it when people pose with their foot on the animal, put hats on baboons or cigarettes in an animals mouth after they are dead. I also don't care for mounted trophies wearing clothes or sunglasses, Santa hats at Christmas, or Christmas balls hung on deer antlers (I have seen all of this.) But I don't condemn people who do. I also don't put leaves or grass in the animals mouth for its "last meal", but I realize it is an old European tradition, and shows their respect. To each his own.

Here it is, for those who missed it the first time:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5v6dtt21Es

And here's a video interview of the star, who is clearly living the American dream:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSjAVENJ330

If people want to act a little silly while out hunting, then that's their choice. After all, they're the ones writing the checks, and who am I to tell them what kind of fun they can have, so long as it's not hurting anyone? I'd certainly rather share a camp with a goofball than a jerk. I do worry about videos like this winding up on shows like 60 Minutes, though. People always say that the antis are going be antis, no matter what you do, and I agree with that. However, what I don't like is for the antis to have material that they can use to turn non-hunters against us. I'm sure the Knowltons truly care about the animals they hunt and the places where they hunt them, and they've no doubt done a lot of good for wildlife just by giving economic value to the animals they're pursuing, and also through Pittman Robertson taxes and contributions to conservation organizations. But they won't have a chance to tell anyone about all of that good stuff when one of the bad guys is showing their video to the uninformed.

Some of the footage in the video (the running sitatunga shot, for example) is neat to see, by the way.

One last thing: As a Texan, I don't see anything wrong with shooting feral hogs with buckshot from a moving truck. They're a huge problem down here and really put a lot of pressure on native species. As far as I'm concerned, anything goes--even shooting them from helicopters. Sure, it's much more like a video game than real hunting, but that doesn't mean it's not a fun way to get the job done. And it's definitely a job that needs doing. But should it be posted on youtube for all the world to see? I'm not so sure about that.

Peter with all due respect I agree that's not the best foot forward without understanding, but you have to understand in Texas there's a WAR on hogs in some areas. They are hugely distructive and people are encouraged and allowed to kill them with more than normal legal means. It's not hunting it's irradication. Some people have professional services that hunt them with helicopters. Again this has nothing to do with hunting or sport. It's about getting a job done as efficiently and affectively as possible.
