I'm posting this to see if it get's ANY interest what so ever....and of course hoping someone will pick it up. A chance has come up to buy a very good sized property in South Africa, at a VERY good price.Unlike some of it's neighbours, SA is political stable, and encourages foreign investment. The property details: 11500acres 5km Limpopo river frontage. Very big, spacious lodge, managers house, slaughtering fascilties ect. Borders Botswana. Game in abundance are most SA PG as well as Rhino, Leopard, Crocodile, Hippo and the occasional Elephants that wander in from Botswana. Only 50km's from the new MApungubwe National PArk that stradles Botswana, SA and Zim. Also a 4 acre, state of the art Bass Dam. Easy access to Botswana and Zimbabwe. 2km airstrip. The property is an economic entity, and the new owner can start reaping the benefits immediatly. EXCELENT oppertunity to dump some tax money. Infinito Safaris to offer full management service. Price? A mere $3.1mil....but worth at least $4mil. The property is currently owned by an American national, that has owned it for 22 years. He wants to move on. The owner get's full title deed. I bought a place myself a couple of months ago not 15km's from this ranch. Even more foolish if SA goes the same way Zim did. One cannot count that possibility out either, as sometimes things change very rapidly within these african nations.

Some folks have boats worth a few million bucks. Some folks spend $200,000.00 on a daughter's wedding. If you have $20,000,000.00 or so, it's just an expensive toy. I never would buy in RSA as an investment, but what a heck of a hoot the place would be... and there is always the chance that you could get most of your money back if you were up to date on gov't trends, ready to sell at some loss or had a bailout tax option. Somebody buy it and I'll go live there and protect against the lions and tigers, make up funny stories and eat biltong... maybe have a good wine awaiting my "owner's" arrival. How about 31 of you putting up $100,000 each? That way your loss won't be as great if you do lose it through some bureaucratic take-over. Well that sounds like a nice opportunity at a reasonable price offer, I take it there are no gazetted land claims. SA is still a very reasonable place to invest and if you care to delve a bit further you will see a vast number of foreigners are investing in SA. Richard Branson of Virgin fame also owns a game property in SA somewhere near Kruger, I dont believe Richard is a fool myself. infinito, is the said property game fenced at all, and is the American owner moving on within SA or what are his future investment plans, if any !! Cheers, Peter

To all. If you compare SA with Zim or try to imply that we might follow the same route, then you kept the wrong company where you got your info, do not know the Afrikaner people THAT LOVES their country, together with our black countrymen, OR simply just do not know anything about SA. Keep it that way, so that other people can reap the benefits..... It is true Peter, Richard Branson owns a place close to the Kruger, and a little known fact is that Bradd Pitt also aquired a place recently in SA. Throw in the hundreds of foreign investors buying places in South Africa, the sceptics are by far in the minority. I would not throw a ton of my own hard earned and saved cash into a property, if thought it will go down the drain in 10 years. A word on land claims in South Africa. My dad is a lawyer, and has worked on these land claims since 1997. Herewith some info for the uninformed: All claims had to be registered by 31 Dec. 1998. They extended this deadline for a couple of years, as some of the "tribes" only found out months after the deadline passed, about it. Not as if they get the government gazette every month. These claims and the validity of them, is handled by the land claims commision, and there is a court that deals with any disputes. The only people that can claim land, is people that have been forcefully removed, or without compensation, from their land to new, allocated land. Owners of the land that is claimed, get paid, according to MARKET value, for the land and any and all improvements. It is part of our country dealing with the past of apartheid. Now the relative info. There is a land claims register. NO PERSON can furhter more claim land under the act. If you want to buy a property, you just need a certificate/letter stating that there is no claim registered on the land you intend to buy, and there will be no problem. As far as land grabs go, like in Zim.....You will need total anarchy in this country, and we will not stand for it. You and thousands of other foreigners will loose your investment, but pray for our soules then, 'cause we will be at war....... The person selling this land wants to move on. I heard something about a divorce dispute, but how true it is, I do not know. I forgot this important part. The area is virtualy crime free, because of it's remote location. 5 hours drive from the airport. Isn't the government trying to prevent foreign land ownership? I thought they are trying to get foreigners to lease land instead. Not trying to stir the pot, just curios.

wazza, A foreigner can open a company in SA and the company can buy the Farm. Usually the farm is usually registered in a company so you buy over the company as easy as that. Yeah right... My wife is German and we bought our ranch here in April this year for $200K. We've just received an offer for $375K... Only a fool would sell it though... cause in 6 months from now it could be worth what - $500K...? Definitely not worth the investment especially considering that we've had to go to sleep with the sounds of Africa at night and had to wake with the sounds of Africa in the morning... We've had to endure sightings of kudu and warthog instead of Fords, Buicks and Chevrolets. We've had to smell the fresh Earth after the recent rains instead of gasoline fumes... Nope, you're right... I think the big problem would be finding someone local to manage it. I don't mean a friend of a friend of a friend. Investors need some assurance that the place is being managed well and NOT being run as a personal fiefdom for his buddies. I'd be interested, but it would have to be run as a business and not as a way of a bunch of Americans geting cheap hunting. That is a good way of running the place into the ground. Peter. Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong;

Peter, With technology these days you could check on your manager running the farm trough webcams ! Just as serious as some people are with there work so you will find serious people who will look after your business just have to find the right person. Alf said "Yes it's very, very necessary to tell the world what is happening. Denying it because it's unpleasent may be detrimental to those who are making a shit load of money in the new SA but it's not helping those who are afflicted by the impositions of the realities of the new SA!" Both right. Alf, I don't know anyone that sticks their head in the sand unless they really friggin stupid and naive. Telling the world is important but I feel for most part pointless unless we as South Africans can mobilize leadership -not easy anywhere. Websites like that have their function but it pains me that they have a terrible negative effect too that only creates further misinformation about the place. I spend time with many African students here on this Canadian campus and their number one frustration is the crap that people believe about African general (I am not saying SA farm attacks are crap at all). All they are simply trying to do is enlighten folks that its not all desert/jungle/war/famine/disease. We do need to balance the perspective otherwise the negativity seeps into peoples psyche in a capillary effect - its not overt but its powerful and is really devastating. What is the answer - I wish I knew but I do know that we all know these problems exist and we get on with it, hopefully playing a small part that contibutes in the long run. Yes my family have been victims of crime but we move on - not blindly. All these issues pain me a great deal as I am not willing to accept permanent life anywhere else (well perhaps elsewhere in E or S Africa) or throw my hands up. Many people still live quite wonderful lives in SA and do very well socially and financially. Most of my friends and I have been on 'walk about' for many years in many different countries. It pleases me greatly to see the vast majority of them back home with families...just last night my friend in Ohio from college days said he is done after 5 years and will back in SA permantly next year, as his brother just did a few months ago. I guess we all make our decisions which is a great privelage. For what its worth I am currently applying for fundung for PhD research on land laims as conservation (including hunting) areas instead of agric on often marginal land. You may be away of small projects doing this already and other partnerships (friend of mine near Hoedspruit in a similar partnership with claimants)....any way, thats my attempt at having input into my countries future...if these things are happening, lets try do them properly. Been there as a family since 1688, not about to leave now... All the best with what ever you decide to do...buying property or not, no one goes through life risk free, and no i am NOT downplying the unaccepatble leves of violet crime in SA, not one little bit!

Land investment in RSA has been talked about and re talked about for years on these forums. I have had some awesome opertunities to buy good hunting lands for less money than I paid for my house. Once invested in RSA your stuck with it because if you sell it, you cannot get your money back into the USA by legal methods and the other method could get you about 10 years in the slammer... BTW, if you get the RSA land paid for the RSA gov. will take it back from you at no charge, or they will have you donate it to them, however you like... Land reform is now becoming rampant and I am sure good buys are a dime a dozen there. The black African is taking back Africa, like it or not, admit it or not, just sit and watch. I would not invest one dime in any African country today. Ray Atkinson Atkinson Hunting Adventures 10 Ward Lane, Filer, Idaho, 83328 208-731-4120 rayatkinsonhunting@gmail.com

This is a quote from the Foreign Investment section of the Pam Golding Real Estate web site: "All funds introduced from outside South Africa to acquire fixed property within South Africa may be repatriated together with any profit on resale of the property, provided, the title deed of the property has been endorsed "non-resident". Similarly, funds introduced to acquire shares in a company/members interest in a close corporation may be repatriated together with any profit on resale, provided, the relevant securities have been endorsed "non-resident". Funds, introduced into South Africa in the form of a foreign loan to fund acquisitions of corporate entities which own property in South Africa, may be repatriated in terms of the original loan approval by the Reserve Bank. The profit on resale may also be repatriated, provided, the relevant securities have been endorsed "non-resident"." Obviously they are in the business of selling Real Estate, but their site has a great deal of information. The above matches what I have been told and read in several places. Due diligence would be required, of course. Les

Just goes to show how negative and politically twisted some of these ex-south Africans are, for they are no more. I lived six years abroad, could not stand it, and came back. A lot of the statements on here are misinformed individuals, and I knew they would come out with exactly what I expected. That web-site is a typical conspiracy theorist BS heaven. White people have been murdered and stolen from since we left the Cape in 1834, out of our OWN accord. The ones that could not live with the hardship of Africa LEFT. You also think, Alf, that apartheid was the best invented law ever created, do you not....? Sorry to other readers who want to read about the Ranch, but these guys really get me into a rage..... I own land, have a successful safari business, and LOTS of friends all over the country.......We all complain over this and that, but hell, we love this place and would go no where else, and help where we can to make it BETTER. This is my last rant over this toppic, and I will from now on stick to enquiries about the ranch. Hey ALF, I thought I would be finished, but I have to reply to this. [QUOTE]Originally posted by ALF: Infinito: You make a lot of assumptions dont you ? 1. " How negative and politically twisted some of these ex-south Africans are" Im neither an Ex South African nor politically twisted. I'm a South African, I hold full citizenship, a passport and own land in South Africa ! My family live in the RSA. My choice to make a life for myself, my wife and my child outside the country has nothing to do with you, it is my decision and mine alone !" Any person who promotes web-sites like you do, are negative about this country, and live in another country, is in MY book an EX-South African...... It is my turn to say to you Sir.....I posted an ad for the sale and management of a Game Ranch....You came in,stepped in the pile, opened yourself up, out of the blue, with your political views and hi-jacked the whole excerise. Personaly I do not have time for you and your kind that finds a political debate gap about the the new SA, in any conversation, while others like me work bloody hard to promote and make a living IN the country I hold the passport to.... A lot of your statements are not unlike the rantings I became so familiar with in Britian when I lived there for 6 years....amongst your sort, and does not warrant a reply. (ref your statement that the government WILL transform 80-% of land ownership to balck people) You might have voted apartheid of, you might not, but what did you think would happen if it changed.......of course this would be the result of the new SA...What you clearly long for is the good old, secured, blindfold over the eyes, OLD South Africa.....is it not...?? As I said, if you cannot live with it, leave...you did that, now stay there and keep your views about Africa to yourself, while we try and make this place work......I am certain you love hunting and nature...that is why this web-site is there fore. Take your political views to other forums that cater for such BS. You will find loads of friends there.....Stick to hunting and the outdoors here. I dont know if it is me and my OLD AGE or just me, OR is it some people whom want to pick a fight (-; I thought this was a thread asking if anyone was interested in considing a specific land/farm purchase, not a thread wanting to know the politics of SA or what one individual thinks of another and their opinion. Maybe if (someone stated another thread) asking the question about (why not to purcxhase land in SA) then the fight can take place on that thread and leave this thread for people asking about the property, that might make for a more pleasant journey, or is that asking too much of our fellow guests Cheers, Peter
