Juan - Participating in your schools would be an absolute joy. Would be really neat to experience and gain all that knowledge and skillsets for sure.

But how about we just hunt Red Stag, Boar and Buffalo when I make it back down there? You can throw out a few tips and ideas to me as we travel around Argentina together? Wink Thanks for the list of schools and I will check them out for sure.

In Australia there is a school where you kill hundreds of wild game mostly cows and hogs.
I have two courses one practical rifle ,you shoot rifle at game mostl at not more than 500mts ,and the other is called COSAR you learn to shoot 3 gun in field operations ,besides tactical med ,tacticas maps ,tracking ,i teach it with spec ops personnel .
We have a course of long range shooting but i believe it isnt usefull for African hunters .

Larry ,we can hunt red stag free range in la Pampa together ,and before that we can train a bit at my farm with the 3 gun ,besides killing thousands of doves, hares ,periquits and hogs .
Its a nice idea to travel along the country to LA PATAGONIA we will discuss this.

In my former career, I went to a lot of shooting schools and was coached by some of the best. Some of it was great, some was OK, but I learned something every time. The wife and I will be attending a shotgun course together soon. Do I need it? I don't know, but I want it and the worse thing that can happen is I might get better. Anytime you can get training from a dedicated expert and shoot without distractions at good facilities, I think you should go for it.

Formal training is getting expensive but most ranges and clubs (and some forums) have great shooters that are worth listening to and learning from. Just an opinion from a guy that loves shooting and hunting, yet doesn't know everything.

I have attended Gunsite training with Il Ling four times in preparation for 6 safaris over the last 10 years. I highly recommend both her and Gunsite for your safari training. The facilities are excellent. As for Il Ling, how many outstanding instructors have also successfully fair chase hunted a Cape buff with a revolver? She really knows her stuff: hunting, shooting, field craft. And she knows how to effectively teach it. For me the very best parts of her classes were: safely carrying a hot rifle with people around, extensive shooting and coaching off the sticks, shooting moving targets, and shooting the charging buff robot with my heavy double. All skills that are are good to have in Africa. I have encouraged several friends to also train with her and all have thanked me for the big jump in their hunting competence. My enjoyment of the safaris has greatly increased since I started training with Il Ling. And this is coming from a guy who regularly shoots (and even occasionally wins) .22 Silhouette, Tactical Rifle (run and gun out to 1100 yds), and Long Range (out to 2200 yds) competitions. Plus I get to hunt at least once per week year round here in Idaho.

For me a large part of the enjoyment of the hunt is the preparation: tuning the rifles, selecting the right bullets, working up the loads, researching the game, and training with Il Ling at Gunsite. And my PH inevitably appreciates her training skills most of all!

I think I would like to attend some training course. I have hunted my whole life and have been considered a good shot for most of it. That being said in spite of a lot of African and other hunting experience; I am self taught. I can't possibly have taught myself everything. Particularly when it comes to long range.

I have been in contact with instructors form USA and South Africa AND I CAN RECOMMEND SAAM ,with CHIP BEAMAN an ex SEAL SNIPER as one of the best facilities for Africa,my friend IL LING NEW at GUNSITE ,and MONTY KALOGERAS ,please if you atended to schools that are usefull for the AFRICAN hunters post here .
We must try to teach the few we know to new hunters and recommend schools for advanced training.
I know of good schools too in SA and in Australia where you shoot hundreds to wild cows and hogs but i dont remember the names now .

Hi Folks

Seems like a lot of talk is based on the ladies learning to shoot/hunt with Il Ling New at Gunsite, but what about us chaps? She is the one who taught me to there in 2009. The 170/270 and hunter prep are not just for the girls or guys but all who want to learn how to did it right. The only course at Gunsite for the ladies is the 250 pistol, all the others are open to both the guys and girls who want to learn some skill with firearms.
