BIEBS- Little Ernest strikes again...
Jon (Biebs) and Larry (ELK88101) are several days into their hunt up in the Caprivi, and Little Ernest’s lucky streak continues. A Management Bull was taken early in the hunt, and today a Warthog fell to create Schnitzel rations for camp. Late afternoon found us stalking the rare strain of Burchell’s Zebra in the area, with pure black and white coloration (no shadow) but without legging stripes. Tomorrow we’ll pursue another Elephant, put out some initial Lion baits, and revisit the Zebra habitat later in the afternoon. We’ll be hunting for another 2 weeks up here and at another camp down nearer to Windhoek. Eland, big Kudu, and some other species will be pursued down there. We’ll keep you posted as available technology allows.

Tracker49Good Job!
If you put Ernest in an opening where the ele's could see him would this be considered baiting?, Hmmm, might be on to something here!

Use Enough GunWell done!
UPDATE: Larry shot a very nice elephant 4 days ago, and Jon killed a huge hippo 2 days ago. Lion so far no where to be seen...
I will leave the pics for their return, so as not to steal to much of their thunder.

Remember that Ernest the Elephant likes single malt!
JudgeG ... just counting time 'til I am again finding balm in Gilead chilled out somewhere in the Selous.
And red wine with dinner.

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

mauser93this is NOT a trick question, although it most certainly is an uninformed one:
How does one go about hunting a hippo?

Dr. Tim BurkhartBiebs,
Thanks for the update...I didn't think I would get an update until you came back.
Keep up the great shooting!

mauser 93, I think I will let jon answer that question, as I think he had a particularly great time with his hippo. He will propably be back online sometime next week.

On the Hippo...I had told Karl I was only interested in taking a Hippo on land. We found one alone in a pool, and waited for him to have enough of our presence. He broke out of the pool after 20 minutes or so, and I took him with a single side brain shot as he was moving towards the thick jess on an island. It turned out to be the largest-bodied Hippo the concession had ever taken. I just got back an hour or so ago, so I'll get pix and info up as soon as possible. Great hunt....thanks Karl.

L. David KeithCongrats on your hunts Larry and Jon. Those were some great pics you sent. Some of the charges you guys had were hair raising and I can't wait to see the video. Larry, that pygmy antelope you took is a trophy of a lifetime, congrats! You guys take some of the largest land animals in the world and you get one of the smallest and it's a monster! I'll let you tell about it.
Cheers,
David
