Folks:

I've just received the video of my P.A.C. elephant hunt of March 2007. I'd be glad to send a copy to a half dozen or so folks if they promise to burn a copy or two and send them to fellow AR folks who wish to see it.

Let's do it this way:

I'll send copies to six folks in the states, one to Europe, one to OZ and one to Africa (if anyone there so wishes?) and when you've either viewed it or copied it, just come back to this thread and offer it as available on this thread. First request, you send a copy you burned or the "original".

So... who wants a copy sent to them? Just put your name down below and I'll p.m. you to get your address, etc. The first six in the states/Canada will get a copy within a week and I'll send the overseas ones a.s.a.p. So... I'll look for five U.S./Canada names and three overseas... then ya'll are on your own... I hope this makes sense. Comments after viewing are expected and you don't have to pull punches. I'm a grown young man.

The video is very well done. Not a lot of shooting, but great camp live, local villages, etc. The elephant kill shot is in the thickest stuff imaginable, but kind of fun to see. HHK did a great job with the whole hunt from meeting me at the airport to editing the video. If you have never had a hunt filmed, viewing this will encourage you to do so. It's really cool to relive the safari.

And, before anyone trashes me, I don't carry my rifle much and I have ugly legs. Smiler

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

Into my heart on air that kills
From yon far country blows:

I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.

I sent six copies to folks in the U.S. today. Dogcat has graciously agreed to make 20 copies available and upon receipt of the one I sent him... and upon the return to me of the copies, I'll get out more.

Be advised that this is more about a safari than any type of Mark Sullivan stuff. Still, there are obviously some good things I, and the PH do, and some not so good things.

For instance, when the elephant falls from the attempted brain shot and then struggles to get up, the PH doesn't hesitate to fire. (Good) And, I'm fat (bad)... but the PH knows my limits (good).... With full knowledge of the dangers, I seldom carry my rifle on safari (bad)... all this stuff plays out pretty well on the video. At one point, I reload four rounds in about 8 seconds (after having emptied the magazine in less than four seconds... aimed at that....) then later I'm so tired and drained that I just open the bolt and let the PH put in a round... All part of Africa...

I hope you will enjoy it, warts and all.
