Ladies and Gentlemen,

How did you first come across the Accuratereloading site?

After a couple of safaris, I remember searching the web for "African hunting" and came across HuntAmerica. After a few months on HuntAmerica, I remember several people mentioning "Saeed's website". Someone finally posted a link to AR and I have been here ever since.

Regards,

Terry

P.S.
John S was the Moderator on the African Hunting Forum at that time. I want to say a special "Thank You" to John S for all the good advice and direction he provided to me in the early days.

Terry,

After a couple of african hunts, when my wife and I decided to drive from Norway to RSA for a year, I did lots of research on the internet to find up to date info on various countrys before heading off. AR was one of the sites that I "stumbled" upon while doing this. And I'm sure glad that I did, as I value a lot of the info found here very highly! Smiler

Terry,

I first heard about AR last July, I was talking with one of my clients about a gun problem. He asked if I had a PC, (which I had gotten about 2 months before, and didn't know a dam thing about it!), anyhow, he said to check out this web site called www.accuratereloading.com, I made a remark about not being intrested in reloading, but I took a look at it anyway.

If I remember correctly, I signed up as a member that day!!

I feel lost if I can't get on and check in everyday!!!!!

Terry,

My experience was exactly as yours....
1) web search for Buffulo hunting
2) found HuntAmerica
3) continually found references to 'Saeed's website'
4) Googled it and found AR.

Been here ever since 2001...Mostly as a reader!

Derf, Rusty and Kudu56 had posted several times on another message board I am a member of. They mentioned AR in a couple of posts on the other board. Since I respect these guys I felt inclined to check out where they were hanging out. I was a lurker for almost a year.

There are a few other crossover members I am sure but I can't think of them right now.

Through this board I met Mark in SC attended the Lowcountry SCI fundraiser banquet and bought a hunt.

We are everywhere.

Go to this link Holiday in Malta and scroll down a little past the middle of the page for a link to AR.

Probably not your average link for a travel website. nut

I found my way here after The Firing Line went away. I carried my same handle over here in the event others from that place "recognized" me. This page was more hunting focused than shooting/personal defense/gun rights, and that suited me fine.

Terry,

I found it basicly the same way you did. Saeed used to post over at HA, quite often. He then announced that he had a BBS set up with African hunting as main feature. Been here ever since. AR has only gone up in quality, while HA has gone down, IMHO.

I ran a google search for reloading on some caliber, don't know what one anymore, finally registered 14-15 months ago when somone posted something I considered total BS and couldn't let it pass unanswered. With the change over in Jan I couldn't get back on with my old name, so I started over. Probably recognizable anyway.

Someone sent me an email link with the most hilarious videos of shooting a cannon at an inside range.
About a year later when we decided to go to Africa I stumbled on to the main page by accident and recognized the opening pic of the range. Hallaluhah, I might be missing something but other than one other fishing site I rarely go anywhere on the web.

In mid 2000 I was looking for cape buffalo info and stumbled into the picture of Saeed with his huge-bodied 49" buffalo (despite having one of its horn tips broken off), a Royal Order of the Outer Circle qualifier, surely the No.1 in that book, if only there was such a book.

So, Saeed's smiling face was my introduction to the site. That infectiously smiling face was the beacon shining the way to accuratereloading .com ... and his eagle-like beak pointed the way to this madness.

Had posted a question regarding a Coggie in 375 H&H Mag that I intended buying, on another forum. Think it was African Hunter. Got chatting with Ol' Sarge and he recommended that I ask ALF on AR as he was the resident guru.

Legistine actu quod scripsi?

Never under estimate the internet community's ability to reply to your post with their personal rant about their tangentially related, single occurrence issue.

What I have learned on AR, since 2001:
1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken.
2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps.
3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges.
4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down.
5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine.
6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle.
7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions.
8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA.
9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not.
10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact.
11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores.
12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence.
13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

I found AR from a link on Huntingnet.com(which I no longer visit) to the videos of the 577 Tyrannosaur some time ago and bookmarked it for the vids. It wasn't until quite some time later that I realized there were discussion forums. Though I've never been to Africa and don't have any plans to in the forseeable future (not for lack of desire mind you) I read here everyday.

I bought a Cogswell and Harrison Double rifle in Africa and researching it ran in to Rusty, Mac, and Ray... through them I visited Hunt America for quite a while and they kept referencing AR... The rest is history... At the time I liked HA best but they kept having problems and I found a greater expertise on this sight... so it seems. HA is stil a fine sight, I just do not take the time to go there anymore.

Geez...in '97 or so, maybe, I had bought a 375 H&H and was looking around for loading info. I found Shooters and HA, both of which active then. Followed a link to AR but at that time it was one long threaded series of posts that made me cross eyed to read. nut

After the upgrade to the better software, I joined and have been around ever since.

I found AR well over a year ago when an e mail was going around entitled "why iraquis throw rocks" or something derogatory of that nature, and there was a vid clip of some of those fortunate/unfortunate souls sooting the T-Rex. Did some research and found this site on in a yahoo search.

I was searching for information on plains game hunting in South Africa. I contacted Jim Hackiewicz (JJHACK) and booked my first hunt with him. A couple of the moderators from accurate reloading happened to be on the same hunt. I won two free tickets from SAA as a result of a post on this site and am leaving tuesday for a month long trip to SA and Botswana.

There was a heck of a great guy that I met through the newsgroup rec.crafts.metalworking, he had a dream about building magnum mausers and would have had a hell of a company building them had he not succumbed to cancer. At any rate, Robert Bastow, (known far and wide as Teenut) was responsible for getting me here.
