Naki, the problem is, it is getting harder and harder for the AVERAGE person to put a hunt together. If nothing else the world economy is a determining factor.

How long will it be before hunting in NZ gets priced out of foreign hunters reach?

As far as Africa is concerned, political instability in African countries and USF&WS regulations concerning the import of trophies are definitely going to have Americans looking at going on Safari differently over the next few years.

As I keep saying, hunting will probably never completely disappear, but hunting today is not the same as it was 25 to 50 years ago, and hunting(?) 20 years or so into the future will not be the same as it is today.

Now look at the rest of the world where there is plenty of hunting & you see that guns are licensed, military style semi autos are not allowed and hand guns are strictly controls. None of that has had an impact on hunting.
Naki, we wouldn't even be talking about this except for the teenage psycho shooter incidents that the Left uses to drive public opinion. And at the leadership level of that group, they are hard core "no guns - no exceptions". I presume you're aware of that. If not, check the anti gun programs of Seattle (they just announced a new push to stigmatize the ownership of all guns), San Francisco, Chicago, Washington and New York. It's not just controls they are interested in. Their goals go quite beyond that.

Therefore we have NO CHOICE but to oppose them. Even if you don't care anything about owning a semi-auto AK look-alike, we have no choice but to support the rights of those who favor that style. Because (and this is the important part) our common opponents also think my Weatherby Mk 5 with the fine walnut, is a sniper rifle. And they can't see the difference between something used by some psycho shooter and my vintage "curio and relic", highly valuable and collectible semi 44 Auto Mag handgun. And they're not about to make such a distinction or even get into admitting that some semis are, after all, OK.

Let me state it like this. We are NOT going to assist the Left in taking away all guns. In this respect we know them better than they know us. They actually think we're not capable of figuring out their program, and they love to insult us from the highest levels of government. Such as what's his face's "stubbornly clinging to guns and religion" quote.

Incidentally, you probably don't know this, but the anti-gun program is worldwide, well funded and well organized. They've now got the UN involved and I imagine the EU too at its intellectual leadership levels. And they have already tried referendums in Brazil (and I think Switzerland) to ban all guns, to find a starting point for future actions.

And trust me, they will be coming to visit your New Zealand. Good luck when they do.

So many hunters are so out of touch with things in the bigger global picture.

International hunting is primarily fueled by well heeled hunters and most...... and I mean a big percentage........... are boomers. When we boomers are out of the picture that aspect of hunting is tanking.

On a local basis in respective countries you have to look at what percentage the hunters make up of the total population.......... you also have to factor in the projected population growth and expansion into land that is now open to hunting.

Look at the big picture people!!!! Numbers of bodies, money and firearm acceptance are just a couple of pieces of the equation.

In the end, if you are really honest with yourself, you know where things are heading. You can't just look at your little circle of friends and the fact that their kids hunt and Dad or Grandpa is funding it.

Look at the big picture. It ain't pretty.

Yes Sir, it will be, For Those That Can Afford It.

With the shape the world is in and the shape the worlds economy is in, how many of us know for sure that we will always be able to afford it?
