I'm just back from Zim, and have posted my report. I'm also posting this link here, because not everyone will want to read my long-winded report, and i thought you would find this fun. Justin Drainer videoed our trip, and he sent me this short compilation. Aerial photography makes for remarkable safari footage!

I'm surprised the croc or a hippo didn't take a swipe at the drone, since it seemed to fly within a couple of feet of them. Stunning images!

Outstanding. I carried the drone to him in late June and he started flying it then. He had been practicing on a virtual demo before we arrived, so he was well up the learning curve. I see he has taken it much further - chasing those buffalo was incredible!

I can't believe how low Kariba is! That's unbelievable.

And WTF - did Buzz forget to pack razors?

Looks like it was a great safari. Congrats!

Already I was beginning to fall into the African way of thinking: That if
you properly respect what you are after, and shoot it cleanly and on
the animal's terrain, if you imprison in your mind all the wonder of the
day from sky to smell to breeze to flowers—then you have not merely
killed an animal. You have lent immortality to a beast you have killed
because you loved him and wanted him forever so that you could always
recapture the day - Robert Ruark

Saeed, this would be interesting for your Selous hunt. One can only imagine what might happen if a drone was mixed into your safari. Eeker

Biebs... You sure ain't lying.

I agree that video was amazing. My particular favorite was the hippos entering the water and seeing the 'mud trails'.

Marty, do you happen to know how high Justin would fly it? Seems like he got it up there a few times.

As an aside...Could you imagine Bell, Manners, Nychens, and other old ivory hunters having this technology?

Marty,

Thanks so much for sharing that. I bet you can't wait for the full final product.

Justin filmed and edited the footage himself of our hunt with Buzz. I believe it was the first time he did the whole shebang and we couldn't be happier. He did not have the drone yet. That aerial footage is amazing.

Cheers
Jim
