Gosh dang it! This story just serves to drive me crazier . That and Saeed's DVDs that I'm watching.

My wife promised me a safari when she got out of vet school, and I was just going to do a plains game safari. Now I've got to decide whether to "settle" for the plains game or save a little longer and sign up for one of Pierre's 7-day specials. I'm sure that another trip to the Dallas SC Expo and some more huntin' stories will push me over the edge . Gloom, dispair, and agony on me .

BTW, JudgeG, that story needs to go to Africa Hunter or Sports Afield. Very well written.

Good un, I have been in some simular situations with Lions and Bufalo but never at the same time...I always remember what goes through my head at such a time and that is "Shit this ain't so bad, bull riders don't even have a pickup man!"

On a serious note, you have been through the ultimate test for an african hunter and you did well.

Did you feel even for a second when the lioness leapt on the buffalo that a man with a loaded side by side rifle is on top of the food chain?

A fantastic encounter, Judge. Congratulations on explaining the primary reason so many of us make the pilgrimage to Africa...to witness nature in her most primordial state.

I am guessing that some camera men would have kept their cool, but we've all seen "charge" videos that show the ground and brush as the camera man runs away...

Simply amazing. You may want to save that one for a book. I can only imagine the situation was hotter than donut grease, but take a breath and keep the rifle.

Wow, how lucky are you all to not only have been first hand witnesses but to walk away from it unscathed? It's almost like Nature let you in on a rare secret.
