Alexander and I need some ideas on how to mount this warthog that he shot. We are considering a full mount but are open for ideas.

One of my clients had a sort of three quarter mount with the pig coming out of a hole in a bank of soil...... I haven't heard of anyone else having it done, but it looked pretty neat. It also fits nicely against a wall. However, I'd advise you find a really good taxidermist to do the work...... He used Lifeform Taxidermy who did a fabulous job.

He is something that Shakari has mentioned; however, it is only a half mount. I thought the mount came out quite well. Here is a picture of my little buddy. I have more picture if you would like to see them also.

Congrats to you and your son!!

Yup, that's the kind of thing I was thinking of. I don't know who did that work, but it's very good. - I'd suggest you look at a lot of different taxidermy company websites before settling on who you use for such a mount. An unusual mount like that can look fabulous, but put it in the wrong hands and it'll look tucking ferrible. Wink

Look especially carefully at things like eyes, nose, mouth and exact body positioning. If the eyes bulge or the lips look pursed etc then find another taxidermist...... you've taken a really nice warthog and if you end up with bad taxidermy, you'll kick yourself every time you look at it for the next umpteen years.....

How about a typical warthog pose on his knees drinking water or not drinking but just having that look of looking up while drinking ??

I always try to use enough gun but then sometimes a brainshot works just as good.

Thanks a lot for some really nice suggestions, also thanks for the emails I got with pictures and ideas. I have ordered the creative department to start thinking and hopefully in not to long time it will deliver the plan through the keyboard. Cool

CC,

Do you have a photo of the tusks on a plate that you mentioned?

I have just had mine done and I'm expecting it back in a couple of weeks.
