Should have insisted on a different dip and pack company in RSA.
Misled, shipped the wrong trophies, Missing trophies, etc....
I would never do it again!

Most likely I'll never hunt there (Africa) again!

Taken more pictures, especially of a cape buffalo's cleaned rib cage. A do overlap in a solid curtain of bone.

Don't wear short sleeve shirts, you can always roll up a long sleeve shirt, but you can't roll down a short sleeve shirt and take sunscreen. Drink a full pint of water before you leave the gari and have one of the trackers carry a backpack full of water -- stay hydrated. I've made all of those mistakes at one time or another.

Taken my Cannon 5D on my last trip regardless of the size and weight. Nothing compares to the quality of pictures from a full size censor with a good lense.

RSA 2010: I saw this massive old Eland the last night out. I looked at him over the sights of my Searcy 470 NE double for what seemed like an hour. My PH tells me the landowner will let me make payments for 90 days, he was so happy I shot a Caracal the first day out. I was at budget, so I regretfully passed.

Six years later.

I still see him in moments of reverie...

On my first hunting safari in 1994, my honeymoon, in Zimbabwe, not real regrets or wish anything was done much different.

However I do wish I had taken up an opportunity to hunt with a resident in Zambia when there in 1988 or return soon after, for a "petty cash" fee for cape buffalo, lion or leopard, hippo and other beasties ... still haven't hunt lion or leopard and might never get a chance at lion now. Leopard is a definite maybe still.

The reality of the day, nothing. While it is not likely to be, a 21 day full bag hunt would be a dream come true.

I will say what I am really glad I did was to have all three safaris videoed. I would much rather have shot one less animal and have the professional quality pictures/videos than not. While not cheap, a professional photographer is still a great value IMHO. I sure as hell would not go through what they go through for what they get paid.

Not gone on a 2x1 with a partner that turned out to be a complete ass. Or I should have volunteered to spend a day in camp just hanging out while he was taken back to the airport.

Yes it's cocked, and it has bullets too!!!

Keep a small journal of events.I find myself thinking back on past trips trying to recall the names of people, places and things. For example where I took a buff or a leopard.
