Is there any problems getting the 375/404 JS into Afica with the head/barrel stamps being different? Hook em Horns

What's different? Rifle No. 1: Rifle No. 2: Rifle No. 3, owned by Head Trauma, and he is getting his barrel marking acid-etched: Both rifle barrel and headstamp of cartridge include "404 Jeffery" or an abbreviation of it. There is not enough room on the headstamp to get it all in. Saeed has never had any customs problems with his 375/404 Jeffery and Norma 404 Jeffery brass. Yes it finally happened on this side of the pond, the .375/404 Jaffery Saeed of 2012: Mountain buffalo country is a good place to use such a cartridge:

Congratulations,RIP. You have finally pulled it off.Do keep us posted about how these rifles and the cartridge perform. What kind of accuracy are you getting? Thanks for sharing. I was looking for some info on the 375 Imperial or Canadian Mag that Aubrey White built in the late 80's,early 90's. couldn't find anything much other than some COTW references to it, and a brief mention in an old Seyfried article. It was built on a 404 case also, and there are still dies around for it. I don't know if NASS in Osoyoos is still in business or not, they took over his product. Have to ask around a bit more on that. I think I still have a flyer from Imperial Magnum around here, seems to me the 375 was avail, but, not advertised til after Aubrey died IIRC. I wonder how close it was to Saeed's 375/404? Thank you Robin. Say "Hi" to Friar Tuck for me. I think the biggest factor in accuracy is how the bullet behaves in the neck and throat. Saeed "Happy" Maktoum is still keeping his rifle throat secret. He has the Walterhog bullet custom fitted to his rifle's throat. I sent Saeed a set of dies for the .375/404 Jeffery Saeed of 2012. He said he would see if they make satisfactory ammo for his rifle. I have not heard back yet about that. I tried to get the brass cartridge identical to his, best I could. My throat is that of the 2001 .375 Weatherby spec in CIP. I have had several loads with 300-grain monometal copper bullets shoot sub 0.5 MOA for 3 shots at 100 yards, at about 2750 fps MV. Mission accomplished. Another fun load that was my deer load for 2012, is that Barnes TTSX .375/250-grainer pictured above. 92.0 grains of H4350 Extreme gave 3005 fps MV with the 250-grainer, good accuracy, and killed 2 deer like one-shot lightning strikes: Here is one "useful" plains game trajectory for that bullet: I have too many irons in the fire, and the weather has been so bad on weekends lately, I have a lot of testing yet to do, including the 1:10" twist of rifle no. 2.

Yep, that is Head Trauma's McMillan Legend (Echols) stock on a Winchester M70 Classic in .375/404 Jeffery Saeed of 2012.

Ron, I am going to load this year's ammo with the dies you kindly sent. Those two rifles don't get shot here any more, except for a rounds after I load my ammo for a safari.

Hi Saeed "Happy" Al Maktoum, Hopefully you will try a few shots with the Hornady-die-loaded ammo before you load the whole batch? Those dies were made from your caliper measurements of your brass, and a kiss and a prayer. Please be sure Walter does not touch anything. Best, Ron

Snowed again last night. But warmer weather is coming soon to Kentucky. The groundhog did not see his shadow yesterday! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-Nl4JFDLOU http://www.groundhog.org/ On this February 2nd, 2013, the One Hundred and Twenty Seventh Annual Trek of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club at Gobbler’s Knob…. Punxsutawney Phil, the King of the Groundhogs, Seer of Seers, Prognosticator of Prognosticators, Weather Prophet without Peer, was awakened from his borrow at 7:28 am with a tap of the President’s cane. Phil and President Deeley conversed in Groundhogese and Phil directed him to the chosen Prognostication scroll. The President tapped the chosen scroll and directed Phil’s Prediction be proclaimed: My new Knob entrance is a sight to behold Like my faithful followers, strong and bold And so ye faithful, there is no shadow to see An early Spring for you and me.

One gets all sorts of help from the camp staff. To the extent that they will come and collect your rifle in the morning, and take it back to your tent in teh evening. At some places they even offer to clean it for you. Perish the thought. I make it clear from day one that NO ONE is allowed to touch my rifles.

Yeh, right, except Walter, Chris, Nelson, etc., etc. get to carry one of them on the bakkie and on foot in the field, daily for a week or 10 days, and the entire camp staff uses them in the "Annual All Africa Shooting Tournament." Except for that, nobody but Saeed touches them. ************************************************************************************************************************************************ BTW, the second rifle with a skinny 1:10" twist Pac-Nor is starting off well with the same "varmint" load shown above. Temperature here was 25 F (-4 C) early last Sunday AM. It got up to 37 F (+3 C) while I was at the range. Heat wave! Sunny and no wind of consequence. Perfect day to chronograph the last 10 rounds of deer hunting ammo in rifle no. 2 before I try the CEB ESP Raptors. I had to make sure that the faster twist rifle no. 2 is accurate before proceeding. The Load: .375/404 JS-2012 250-grain Barnes TTSX 92.0 grains H4350 Extreme F-215 primer Norma brass COL = 3.765" Rifle No. 1 had 26" barrel length, 1:12" Lilja No. 6 sporter, stainless, fluted. Temperature at time of shooting was 67 F: 3005 fps MV Rifle No. 2 has 25" barrel length, 1:10" Pac-Nor No. 3 sporter, stainless, plain/no fluting. Temperature at time of shooting was 37 F: 2987 fps MV 10 shot average for Rifle No. 2 today: 2987 fps MV, ES was 34 fps (low of 2963, high of 2997), Sd = OK. This is only 18 fps less than MV for same load in Rifle No. 1 which had 1" longer barrel and slower 12" twist, and 30 degrees F warmer ambient temperature. Rifle No. 2 grouped a little better too: I think it is ready for some Raptors. But I will try to get the trigger tuned a bit before it goes to the range again. Need to get rid of some creep and lighten it up a bit. First 4 shots were spent at 50 yards, getting on paper. Then 3 shots at 100 yards: Scope adjusted and tried again, last 3 shots at 100 yards, out of ammo: Consistent group size! This is a skinny, fast-twist barrel (No.3 Pac-Nor Sporter, 1:10"). The rifle barrel is full-contact bedded with 5 pounds of up-pressure at the forend tip. CZ action screws torqued to 60 inch-pounds. Excellent bedding job by Rusty McGee, per my specification for full contact barrel bedding with up pressure at forend tip. This trick seems to work regularly with skinny-barreled .375-caliber rifles, like my old Pre-64 .375 H&H, that had a No. 3 Douglas Sporter Contour: And the latest .375/404 JS of 2012 with a Pac-Nor No.3 sporter contour:
