I was just looking at Safari magazine issue of the 2024 Hunting Awards!

Bloody hell!

I never realized they actually give so many awards to those nitwits!

The Kardashians and Trump would fit right in there!

They have actually invented animal subspecies so that they could give out more awards1

As soon as the "Awards" issue arrives in my mailbox it goes directly into my short round filing cabinet under "Recycling."

Let people have some fun and their own aggrandizement and ignore it

Not unlike the Country Music Awards, the Grammy's, the Academy Awards, ESPIES, and about 20 other award groups that like to pin badges or give trophies to each other.

Reminds of seeing pictures of Kim Jung Un and his generals in the North Korean army with so many medals they put them on their pants or back.

As Solomon said in Ecclesiasties 1: 2 - "Meaningless, meaningless says the Teacher. Utterly meaningless. Everything is meaningless."

Then in the last verse - Ecc. 12:13-14 - " Fear God and keep his commandments. For this is whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgement including every hidden thing, whether it is good or bad."

Participation trophies are only good for the fire...

Look at the bright side.

We actually agree on lots of things than we disagree on.

I've never entered an animal in the record books or put in for any "award" and never will. I've only had one animal officially measured, a Masai Bushbuck, at the insistence of the PH, who was absolutely convinced it would go top 10. It missed top 10 by something like an 1/8 of an inch. I vowed at that point never to have another animal measured. He is a great trophy and comparing him to other trophies taken by other hunters, making it a competition, cheapens it.

So he hangs on the wall of my living room, clearly a record book animal, no one knows it, and no one in my house cares.
