Michael RobinsonSaeed, thanks for posting these.
It is just as hard to take a good photo in Africa as it is anywhere else, and some of these are really extraordinary.
I especially liked the sweeping views of the Ngorongoro Crater and the many old cape buffalo bulls.

Black FlyThanks, I've been on the road in the damp of north east PA for the last couple days, checked into a motel room and WOW the first thing I come to. I can smell them and feel the African sun.
Thanks, I needed that!

TheBigGuyThe Buffalo pictures are sure to be favorites on this forum.

There are some excellent bird photos as well. I for one am real glad to see them. Birds are always an integral part of the atomospere wherever you hunt. I also like to see the different bugs and reptiles.

I was thinking the same thing. What do you think it measures?? Bet it would be in the top 10 and very close to #1.

Immature birds are pretty tough. This one sure looks like an immature one to me.
Not absolutely positive but it may be an immature red and yellow barbet.

I agree that bird is a better match. You don't see a crest in any of the photos but it could be laying flat.

Though very difficult to say from one picture alone, I would estimate him at around 28-29. A real beauty. From the picture I would say the picture was taken in Tarangire area?
Lewis50,
The best bird book that covers the region is "Field guide to the birds of East Africa" by Terry Stevenson and John Fanshawe. Available in Arusha at the "Book mark" or "Cultural Heritage" or in Dar at "A Novel Idea" at the slipway. You will also find it in most hotel boutiques around Dar or Arusha.
