I found this video highly irritating but i guess it is getting the message out there at a level that the social media generation might be able to grasp

It is helpful and has nearly 1M views. It lays out an effective argument.
So, aside from how they portray the Trophy Hunter as crazed rich guys with erectile dysfunction.

I think it just goes along with what people already think about hunters, so that doesn't bother me. Much more good done here than harm. Almost 1 million views in a day, but the telling thing is that there's over 30,000 positive reviews to the ~1,500 negative. Definitely an effective video.

Yep it does us more good than a bunch of old, stuffy guys on a lectern trying to convince the audience trophy hunting is sustainable. The key is reaching the right audience who do not understand hunting, and in a humorous way, make the argument with easy-to-understand facts.

Reminds me I need to go pick my Hawaiian shirts up from the cleaners and dust off my "I hunt rhinos" bag... I have a safari coming up in a couple of months!

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!
- Rudyard Kipling

Life grows grim without senseless indulgence.

I agree that the video is speaking the language that can be heard/understood by a group of people who need to be reached. I just shake my head that 20ish somethings really think and live this way.

I mean how does she/they think the human species got to where it is today by adapting to and subergating natural resources. I do not want any cute animals to die. I hope you are a vegan and realize that somewhere not to far down the chain of time if your descendant was a vegan you would not be here.

In summary good out reach, but how did a large section of the population make it to adulthood acting and thinking this way. We went from Duke Wayne being the personification of America to the Kardashians being the personification of America and people think it is a good thing.

SCI and DSC are hopefully paying attention. This was published yesterday. Today it has 730,000 views and 30,975 likes (versus less than 2,000 dislikes). When you tailor the message to the audience you actually have a chance to reach the audience and establish a line of communication with them. We need to stop tailoring the message (and the delivery mechanism) to ourselves and start tailoring the message (and the delivery mechanism) to those that are ambivalent on hunting. I think this video is far more helpful than hurtful.

I can only echo the views expressed above.

I have long held the view that the hunting community was way too complacent about anti's for way too long. We allowed them to control the dialogue, educating the non hunting masses is the key to hunting's survival, they massively outnumber us and if we allow the hardcore anti's to dominate the narrative, as they have for much of the last 30 years, hunting is doomed.

I agree with this whole heartily. The best ads right now are the I am the NRA and I am freedom's safeties place. However, that ad only runs on Under Wild Skies which only runs on the Outdoor Channel. Guess what the only people who see those ads are people who already think that way.
The second best ad is the NRA I cannot own a gun because I live in New York. That too only runs on the Sportsman Channel. They need to buy time on network stations. It makes me want to scream.
I have liked the Conservation minute on Under Wild Skies has been doing, but again I am already on board or I would not be watching the show in the first place.

What do those of you who have a Facebook page think about posting this video on your timeline?

I seldom (like maybe once a year) post something on my FB page. And then it's family stuff, no hunting posts.

I belong to some "closed" groups and post on those sometimes, or make a comment about another's post.

I'm conflicted--the message is a good one and it needs to be broadcast, but I definitely don't care for the way the "hunter" is depicted--like some rich doofus who just happens to be a necessary evil.

What do you think?

Posting the video to your facebook page is an excellent idea. I posted it to mine, after first having it sent to my page. I agree with the previous statements. It speaks the language of the intended audience.

Adam Conover actually has some entertaining videos. Saw this yesterday and, while the jabs at hunters aren't my favorite, the message is correct.

I would rather take a few jabs from the left if it means getting the right message across.

It may be a cartoon, but it presents the information in a way that our youth may be able to understand. In other words dumbed down.
