Wendell,

Both you and Andrew is what Walter calls "chickens"!

Alan also refuses to shoot it, so he belongs to the "chickens" too.

Roy and me fit in another category according to Walter.

We are "brainless".

Apparently Roy might have had some brains, but spending so much time in the African sun has evaporated what little he had.

Apparently I was born "brainless" as far as he is concerned.

I agree with him.

Just look at the friends I have!

Then he says he is not my friend, so he is in the clear!

One cannot win with him rotflmo

Saeed,

At least this chicken still has his head.

Many thanks for your hospitality and the tour of your estate.

Never have I seen such a collection of fine firearms and the reloading hall has to be seen to be believed.

No. Saeed first showed me the size of the cartridge which makes most grown men feel inadequate.

Besides I did not want to wake the kids.

Oh, that is a little guy we shot on the way to a leopard blind.

He had another friend with him, which I also shot.

The whole exercise took a few minutes, and we continued to our leopard blind after both were done with.

He is 49" with a broken horn.

Frankly, not much of a hunt, just a drive by shooting.

Had a couple of messages with questions.

The rifles.

First one Andrew is holding is the 577 T.Rex.

The red one he is shooting is the Bleiker 22F3-79 22 rim fire match gun.

Then an M16 which we have modified by installing a heavy match barrel on.

A Sako TRG22 in 308 Winchester. Andrew fired one group of 5 shots using a standard load we use for people to shoot here, not loaded specifically for this rifle.

His 5 shot group measured 0.404". Which goes to show he knows how to pull the trigger.

And finally he is holding the 700 Nitro Express.

Walter has set a requirement for shooting this rifle.

The intended shooter has to prove that certain part of his anatomy does not fit in the end of the barrel. If id does, he cannot shoot it! rotflmo

No one has taken this test yet.

Correct bullet placement, combined with the required depth of bullet penetration, results in an anchored animal...

Saeed: do you guys salvage your fired bullets? What's used as a backstop to catch them with?
Thanks,
George

We use sandbags for bullet backstop.

We don't salvage any bullets, as none is re-usable.

Saeed,
Hello from DSC.
Just taking a break from hanging out in Dallas.
... I scrolled to the margin and found the rest of the broken horn tip in the photo ...
That is a nice photo of both subjects, and the
greatest "Outer Circle" trophy ever.

I hope you all are having fun DSC Ron.

I do feel a bit nostalgic for Texas sometimes. Hopefully one of these days I will make.

I got more questions regarding the stack of 22 ammo in the background.

We have quite a few people here who shoot some sort of informal competition with 22, and everyone has his own idea of what constitutes the best way to get accurate 22 ammo.

They shoot every conceivable rifle, none of which is match grade, and sometimes they shoot fantastic groups.

In my current test I am trying to eliminate all the excuses made for the lack of consistency in 22 ammo.

Again, I am doing from an ordinary shooter's point of view, and I enjoy shooting 22s.

We have over 60 types of ammo, ranging from the best Eley and Lapua can offer, to some really cheap Chinese and Brazilian stuff.

I set up the test as follows:

From each type of ammo, from the same lot, I measured and sorted the rims of 50 rounds. Each 10 rounds have exactly the same rims, and these are shot as a group.

I weighed 50 rounds, each 10 rounds have the exact weight, and shot as one group.

A normal box of 50 is also used to shoot 10 round groups, as a base.

The idea is to see of weighing and rim measurement makes any discernible difference to the accuracy.

Before each type of ammo is fired, I fire 10 rounds of the same ammo that is to be tested.

This is to eliminate what we have heard as the influence of the lube.

All my testing has been at 100 yards.

I am almost finished shooting the Bleiker match rifle, and my intention is to use several other rifles.

The BRNO 452 and 455 are used extensively here, so these are going to be tested too, as well as other rifles.

I am waiting for a friend's son to get a break from school to scan the targets, and I will post them.
