Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.
-Seth Peterson

MARK H. YOUNGBrett,
Yes it is BUT other clients hunting earlier turned down perfectly shootable mature lions of 5-6 years or older. These clients are booked again for '09 so they could easily pass on a good lions looking for that very special trophy. The client in the above picture said he saw 40 lions in the 2 weeks in Lokisale.

bwanamrmNice cat but if that is a Lolkisale Greater Kudu bull he just may be the trophy of the trip! Man, he is nice...
On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

MARK H. YOUNGRussell,
That is what I told Adam. The lion is very nice but the E.A kudu is a beaut.

I sure am anxious to get back in the bush -- thankfully there's just a tad over a month to go.

I don't know the Coke's score but the very long tips indicate to me it must be a great trophy.
Folks,
If I have time later I'll post some more of the pics. The guy really had a remarkable safari.

Die Ou JagterIt appears there was little hunting, if I understand the post correctly 20 animials in 14 days, more like just shooting.
21 August 2008, 16:10
crowrifleI gotta ask, what will a hunt like that will cost me?

Hey Mark, just to lighten up the mood around here let's play:
I guess bushbuck is 15" and 4/8
Coke's is just short of 20"
Anyone else want to try?

The hunt was 14 days in Masailand and then they transferrred to the Selous. In good areas the amount of game taken is not unusual. I've hunted Africa quite a bit so I'm quite fussy about what I shoot. Even in Zim and Mozambique I shot 17 animals in 21 days last year.
Crowrifle
A 21 day safari is $72,900 plus trophy fees, hotels as necessary and gratuities.
Bwanamich
You have me at a distinct disadvantage here and I will defer to your more educated opimion on trophy size. Suffice it to say this guy had a Hell of a successful safari.

DB BillI hunted with Brian in Zimbabawe and unless he's slowed down you don't get much down-time while there's still trophies to be taken.
Brian had so much energy he used to hit the heavy punching bag in camp before a & after lunch. Super PH & a great hunting companion.
