Have not seen anything from Roland lately.
Wondering if anyone might know what happened to him?

He had a meltdown a while back and went nutty.

He promised that he does not wish to be associated with AR - whatever the reason, I have no idea.

Then he came back for a while.

He started putting adverts on the African Hunting Forum, and I asked him not to.

He did not like that and had another melt down and went basically berserk.

So I decided enough was enough, and he is no longer a member of AR.

Sorry to hear this. We have lost a lot of folks here on AR lately. I know I don't post as much in general, don't do hunt reports, don't post pics because of all the negatives that always pop up. These things build up for a lot of folks and they just say "forget it". Oh well!!

Saeed, you have a funny way of saying things!
You cracked me up with the above.

Roland made allot of money here on AR and should appreciate what you have done for him.

Middle East Politics aside...you are a GREAT guy Saeed!! Smiler

I think this all started when someone came here and advertised their new website.

Some people took him to task, and I wish him and his partners the best of luck.

Saying the more QUALITY hunting and shooting websites we have the better it is for all of us.

AR is not competing with anyone.

It turns out those same people had set up several websites before, all have failed!!

This is the only website we have ever set up.

It is 17 years old, and nothing has changed.

We treat our fellow members with respect, and we expect that they do the same to their fellow members.

Sadly, some individuals don't understand this very simple fact.

If I recall there was a late night meltdown that sounded alcohol induced. It was shocking and disappeared quickly.

There have been quite a few of the late night alcohol fueled rants that seem to get a pass. Guess it's all about who you know...

I don't know anybody so I just stick to coffee and the occasional single malt, and bottle of wine, then there are the occasional shooters followed by the jello shots. By then I can't type so I'm safe, but you should hear what comes out of my mouth - definitely lifetime ban material...

Yes, I read it, and it was so off-the-wall and seemingly out of character I was sure his account had been hacked, but it turned out that was not the case.

I tried to speak on Roland's behalf as he was helpful and beneficial in helping our wounded PHs however apparently his behavior was too much to over come this.

I too, saw and read the first one in its entirety, and wondered what the hell was going on. Before anyone could inquire about it, it disappeared and Roland went on with business as usual until he again disappeared-apparently this time for good, and for good reason according to Saeed. Sad news, as I talked with Roland on the telephone about a year ago and he seemed to have his business together.

I totally DO NOT AGREE!

Saeed has been more than gracious with us regarding "Freedom of Speech" here on AR...just look at the Political Forum! Its a free-fire zone! Remember it is his forum so he can do whatever he wants.

So with that in mind, Roland's PM to Saeed must have been pretty BAD.

Amen. While Saeed certainly has strongly held views and is not shy in expressing them (and generally gives as good as he gets in most arguments), he has enough respect for alternative views to at least allow them to be expressed.

Too bad... always had a soft spot for Roland.

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...

And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Gentlemen,

This has nothing to do with "freedom of speech".

Those of you who have been here for a while know this very well.

But we have to have some basic rules - I call them rules of decency and respect to your fellow members.

We have had some individuals who have had what I would call utterly strange behavior - frankly, how anyone would behave like this on a public forum is beyond me.

I know those same individuals are back on AR with new IDs, but at least they seem to behave in a better manner now.

Members come to the forums to discuss and enjoy sharing their stories with others.

Members do not come here to have a fight with some idiot who has lost his marbles and wishes the rest of us to join him.

His first melt down was when we were in the Selous. It had Saeed and I scratching our heads on what bought it on. Then came the inevitable apology post and it looks like he was doing ok. He must of had some more issues or is not right in the head. Seems strange to me to bite the hand that feeds you so to speak. Confused

I do not even open that Political Forum. Perhaps sometimes those that do partake forget they have entered other forums on here and forget to put the manners their mothers taught them back in play.

Cheers

Roland has a good heart.

His good work, without compensation, on behalf of an injured PH showed that beyond doubt.

There's an old cliche about wearing one's heart on his sleeve that may apply here.

I am not privy to the details of this, only saddened by the story, and the result.

And that exhaust valve leaks into the other compartments.

That said, it's your house and I would never presume to tell you how to arrange your furniture.

That's a shame. Fundamentally Roland was a nice guy but it seems he also had his issues.

It was nice to see him get his business up and running almost entirely due to his participation on AR, so I am sure he will miss the forum.
