A 300gr mono-metal bullet at 3000fps will probably expand and work fine but will a 500gr mono-metal? I am concerned that it may not expand and instead perform like a solid. Perhaps a 500gr Swift-A-Frame will work better. I get great results on caribou with a 180gr mono-metal at 3200fps.I think Ganyana is right about the solids on buff.

The point is that one should use good "softs," in whatever form, rather than solids.

The notion that persists to use solids is quite misguided. Smiler
