Does anyone know if Out of Africa Adventurous Safaris is still a member of SCI, or has the SCI investigation of their "hunting" in Zimbabwe, alleged violations of the Lacey Act, and alleged bilking of clients borne fruit?

Or are SCI directors still getting special hunts with OOA?

I still see the OoA advertisements in the SCI publications. I have noticed that OoA does not list Zimbabwe as a destination on the ad but something tells me they still go there.

The rumors I've heard would make it seem unlikely to me that the operators would venture into Zimbabwe. Maybe they have made amends.

I ran into a guy in Joberg getting back from a hunt with them. It was apparently a marathon trip to the hunting area (though he begged for a night's break in a hotel) in a smoke filled car. A videographer was sent along (not at his request) and had great aspirations of getting a lot of money for the video he was making, etc. It seemed to me he was also pressured into a green rhino hunt he hadn't planned on as well. The guy, suprisingly, didn't seem too negative about it but in my opinion had really been had.

I'll be in Zimbabwe soon, but I do not anticipate any problems. All will be posted when I return.

OOA has donated a Botswana elephant hunt for the Sat. nite auction, so apparently they are still in good standing.. never heard anything more about the ethics investigation. looks suspiciously like a whitewash job

Hello Wesley:
No, actually I going with one of our Outfitters; Imapla African Safaris to scout concessions and camps. I'll be hunting along the way and returning later for Buffalo, Lion and Leopard (2 hunts). I can ask about OOA when I'm there if you like. Good hunting, David

I know that OOAAS is still offering hunts in Zimbabwe to clients in Mexico so I guess that the answer to 500 grains question is yes. Since they're having booths at Reno I guess SCI still considers them members...I wonder how can this be with all the troubles they've gone trough in Botswana, Zim and RSA...

Kevin Andersen is one of the SCI's Vice Presidents and is OoAAS personal attorney-----hunts with them regulary. Check their Brochures for his photos

-Mike Christianson sits on the SCI ethics committee---has hunted with them I believe 3 or 4 times--regular customer

-OoAAS rents large booth space--donates tens of thousands of dollars worth of hunts etc..

GET THE PICTURE--OoAAS pays for protection in my opinion---SCI protects them so that SCI continues getting the donated hunts (read as income flow). In return, (IMO) OoAAS preys on SCI members Mad

Ethics with SCI upper management--I don't see it
I know this comment might offend some --sorry but that is just my opinion. stir

nothin sweeter than the smell of fresh blood on your hunting boots

If one mentions the SCI "ethics committee" in Africa one is laughed it.

They think it is a big JOKE!
