Back in the good ol' USA...
and swamped with 600 e-mails and a pile of work! Play hard and pay the consequences! Had a great hunt but no big lion on bait, just women and children. Shot two buff, one bait bull with lion wounds on his hind leg (yes they were there) and one very nice bull scoring about 114 SCI, a zebra stallion and a very nice tssessebe (an antelope I have wanted for a long time).

Martin worked hard to make it happen but the red gods just didn't smile as far as ol' panthera leo was concerned. The jess is still thick, tall and green and the temps warm and humid in the valley so the buff were up close and personal. Will post a hunting report in a week or two but have to get caught up at work first and over jet lag second.

BTW, flew SAA through JFK with nary a hitch... Port Authority and Customs folks could not have been nicer!

Cheers all!
RM

I was just thinking about you last night (not in that way). Sorry about leo. I was hoping you'd hook a monster.

Welcome home.

I was wondering how you did Russell. I am in Dulles now on my way to chase Ele and Buffalo for the next 10 days with our pal John Greeff. If that lion would only wander North my way????

Kelly told me that you had failed to get simba in the salt. Despite that I am sure that you had a good time and have plenty of stories to tell. Glad you are home safe and sound.

Welcome home. Being on the coming home side of a trip is always so much more fun than the going to side. Was this the lion that Martin posted was seen in the Omay recently.

Russell, I was hoping for the best for you on that lion. I could almost see the the photograph.

I know how it is, though, since I have come home with more than a few unfilled tags on key animals in my days of hunting over there.

Still, a couple of buff ain't bad! And a sassaby too! Pretty cool.

Can't wait for the report.

Russell, look forward to your report. Sorry about you not getting your lion. I'm still looking for a big male lion, too.

Thanks guys...

Larry,
Good luck and tell John I said "hi". I hope you get a great buff and ele... take it you guys are hunting Riverside?

Scott,
Yeah... funny I booked direct through Martin in the AR Classifieds for that hunt and have seen that particular picture on several booking agent websites! I don't know if I should be proud or pissed! Wink

Bwanna,
Yes this was the same lion hunt in Omay North.

Steve
I guess my "holy grail" will be lion now and I will have to hunt a time or two more to connect with shumba! I met a couple of nice guys from Louisiana in Cawston who were coming in as I was leaving... one of the hunters had spent 58 days in a leopard blind and still no cat, maybe I am doomed to s similar fate with lion! Oh well... such is hunting.

Yes I agree Andrew... I consider Zambia one of the best, if not the best countries for lion!
