Rather she just doesn't want to see one shot.

Colin,

What you suggest is possible. She can go on the hunt but just make it clear to the PH your wife wants to stay back for the final stalk and the shooting. One of the trackers should be able to stay with her. You do have to take into consideration that you'll have to leave the decision on when your wife falls back to the tracker. If your worrying about where your wife is your going to loose your focus.

Joyce felt that way about Elephant. Originally, when we booked the hunt, she was going to stay in camp. That evolved into "I'll go on some of the tracking". That ended up with her on all but two afternoon tracking sessions, being there when the Elephant was shot, and witnessing a not so clean kill. She had no issue with any of it.

My point is, it was her choice to go or not, but she respected my wish to hunt one. She knew she would be missing the experience if she didn't go along on the tracks & final stalk. It all worked out and she now "has been among them" as they say.

Cheers
Jim

I'm planning on my wife going next year for the first time. I suspect she will go on a couple of rides and a few walks, until she learns that stalking isn't always just a walk and you can't know how long it will last. After that, I suspect she will sit in the gari with her Kindle. But who knows, she may love it.

I will arrange for an additional gari to be available if she loses interest in riding with me and just wants to ride around and game watch. Or she could stay in a luxury camp with her Kindle and enjoy some of the most beautiful scenery in the world (for half the trip).
