Arms are so overrated.

Funny thing was as i was sitting on this croc and getting my pictures taken. I had left my brand new nikon slr in its bag like 50 feet away. We were on a sandbar like structure. Two six footer come out and try and take the bag. I get off the croc and run to other to retrieve nikon. Was a strange moment - jumping off a croc and running to get my camera from some smaller younger crocs.

Definitely need to check this place if anyone goes to Burkina Faso.

That second photo where you are holding the leg and looking at the camera was too close for comfort. But hey, if you get up here to Montana, for $50 you can kiss my wolf and cross that off your bucket list also!

If you see the croc picture you can see the end of the tail is missing. The alpha bites of all the other crocs tails. There is definitely signs of fighting among the croc in the lake.

The lake also has pigs, goats and cattle drinking and swimming in it. Its also full of crocs. The guide said only the alpha hunts and occasional eats a pig.

He also said the alpha is very friendly to humans and likes to get his picture taken and paws shaken.

I kept my eye one for any large croc with a whole tail but did not see the alpha.

I do need to visit Montana.

True - I should follow a 5 pm drinking rule. But like the Jimmy Buffett/Alan Jackson song goes - its 5 a clock somewhere.

I thought I would be terrified of the croc but I was not.

My fear list is

Elephants
Lions
Crocs
Great White Shark

Shark diving was cool - was more afraid of the cold water than the Great White Sharks.

Crocs were cool.

Lions still scare me.

My encounter with Elephants last week has confirmed my fears. I am terrified of Elephants - especially African Elephants and absolutely terrified and fearful of Forest Elephants.

Pachydermophobia - what I suffer from (I googled that).

Now you guys are just being mean - no teeth and south african drugged croc.

I will post some videos tomorrow - having trouble uploading them to photobook.

I risk life and limb for a cool photo and I get challenged on the claims of the crocs teeth and medicated status - just not good cricket dancing

Real teeth and very active for live chickens. I forgot he was feed after we were done sitting on him.

Well mannered fellow - he waited for a proper live chicken.

As to my comments--I was jut plain'
In the above photo I think I get it now. Years ago I visited a croc farm in Chiredzi, Zimbabwe. After feeding the eggs were gathered and the crocs were very lethargic. The workers walked among them with ease. Seeing how crocs are very timid in the wild and seeing others in the bank above, I would guess this a croc farm.

Its not a croc farm. Its like a tourist attraction and a religious site.

In Burkina Faso - crocs are protected and considered religious symbols.

There were a bunch of school buses and tourist buses there.

In the background you can see herd of cattle.

Cattle, goats and pigs were drinking, swimming and wallowing in the croc filled lake.

Have no idea why the crocs did not attack them

I shot birds in Fada about 6 hours east of that tourist attraction. The guides and trackers had no problem wading into croc infested waters to retrieve a dove or sand grouse. Burkina is the only place in Africa where I have seen that the people were not afraid of crocs. They are obviously not eating people or they would show them a lot more respect. All I know is I made sure I stayed away from the waters edge.
