Hello All,
Last year I booked a safari with my wife to Mushingashi. We planned to spend a few days at the falls prior to the Safari. I booked this as a Sable/Buffalo safari. Today I was advised by my booking agent that Mushingashi is in the process of being sold and that there will be no hunts there this year. I was given the option of hunting Sichifulo on the same dates for the same species including Roan.....I know nothing of this GMA and am looking for any information advice that you can help me with. If you so desire please PM me. Warm regards

Extremely concerned about Musingashi? Did not know.

Andrew is the future of Musingashi as Zambia's premier private wildlife area at risk?

I wonder if this still has to do with the whole elephant poaching fiasco:

http://zambiareports.com/2015/...lls-out-mushingashi/

The video that prompted the whole furore, of an elephant with its face hacked off still alive and moving, was one of the singularly most disturbing things I have ever seen, and deserved to have been made public, 'embarrassing' or not!

Looks like they were shut down last Aug. according to this report: https://www.daily-mail.co.zm/?p=40712

ZAWA is claiming they failed to report instances of poaching.... Real shame. Hope Andrew or someone else can give you info on the new area they want you to hunt. Bruce

Not really relevant as to your question. In 2006 or 2007, I was at Abie duPlooy's home spending the night. We were leaving for the Kafue flats the next morning. He took the time to show me his numerous photo albums of his time in Sichifulu.

When he hunted it, many years prior, it was in his words, "A Gem."

He also commented that at the time (06 or 07) it was a depleted GMA. Things may be different as of today.

Good luck with your situation.

I understand the game numbers are pretty good. Buff, roan, sable, eland, wildebeest, hartebeest and cats. I will try find out more and get back to you.

Many years back it was well on its way to becoming a depleted area, that may have changed but i would do some proper research before i booked a hunt there

I have heard some of those areas have suffered from encroachment and poaching. I don't know if it was Sichiflo or Mulobezi but one of them has been depleted.

Extremely concerned about Musingashi as it is the "anchor" in the area east of the KNP.

Both areas have suffered from their fair share of encroachment and poaching. That being said the Kafue tends to throw up some surprises.

acafton,

A few recent trail cam pictures from sichifulo. The Sable, kudu, leopard look to be of really good quality.

Sichifulo is certainly not Mushingashi (I do not think there is a better all-around area in Zambia) but the quality is there. Particularly with the sable.
