mixed luck
Had an unusual hunt a few weeks ago. To cut a long story short, the client shot the wrong Buffalo...... but the shot has to be one of the luckiest I've eve see. He aimed for the engine room, pulled the shot and as you can see, the bullet entered in through the earhole, into the brain and dropped the animal on the spot. I took a piece of dry grass and was able to push it all the way into the brain cavity...... weird huh?

Welcome back Bwana!

This remarkable shot makes up a little for some of the other crappy shots that leave the Buffalo running forever! :-)

Did the bullet nick the horn on the way to the ear?

Johan,

Yup, I guess you're right, but I'd have been a lot happier if he'd shot the correct Buffalo. Ah well, shit happens.

Steve, nope, didn't touch the horn at all......

Yup, all the 7 day hunters got 2 Buff each. Although we did sadly lose one hunters second Buffalo, and I can only put it down to bullet failure. Murphy's law decreed it was the best Buff of the season with tons of spread drop and curl and it had lost about a third of it's curl...... a real beauty. The shot was from about 25 yards and was a frontal chest shot using a 375 H&H & Trophy Bonded Bear Claw & the video confirms a good shot and dust flying where the bullet struck. We found a good blood spoor at first but this was lost when the bull ran with the herd...... I looked for that animal for 3 days but we never found him. Confused

The video isn't particularly good quality but I'll take it to my local shop and ask if they can crop and sharpen it a little and then see what it's like.

We had the same situation last year with a 416 rigby loaded with the new federals. also a frontal chest shot we got him the next day at 4pm. when we were processing the meat 2 days later we found the bullet perfectly mushroomed but it only penetrated about 5 inches my butcher pulled it out with his finger upto today we still dont know why it didnt penetrate to the vitals.

We do most of our DG hunting in Tanzania - but also hunt Botswana for Leopard, Elephant & PG.

I haven't hunted Mozambique for a few years.......
