Nice looking trophies, but wouldn't owning one be a bit like wearing someone else's war medals?

Some things are interesting in themselves, as these are. Many of us who have too many "trophies" of our own on the wall would still like to see or even possess some of this old stuff that is not huntable today, or is representative of taxidermy work from 2/3 of a century ago. Just like having pictures you didn't paint hanging on the wall with some you might have painted.

Some of these animals will never be hunted legally again As for the Man eater Leopard you would be buying a piece of history,well thats how i see it.

No one I know would "wear" anothers medals.

But owning and respectfully displaying an extrodinary or no-longer-available trophy is perfectly understandable, providing one doesn't claim to have taken said trophy. It happens all the time.

Went to the site and looked at items for sale and I do believe that Blesbok is a Bontebok. The blaze on the face and the rings and shape of the horns look like a Bontebok

That's not a snow leopard...it is a common leopard who's coat is faded and yellowed.

there is horrible looking taxidermy there.

If you have a housefull of trophies, like I do, this is where they end up when you die!!!

Or at Cabela's or Bass Pro Shops...

Oh well...

The taxidermy may be poor by todays standards, but check some of the dates

From what information I have gathered from the books, a snow leopard is much lighter in colour to its african cousin - richness of colour enables it to blend with the surroundings so it would stand to reason for the snow leopard in having a pale coat.

I see what you mean, but it's definetly not a snow leopard. Look at the rosettes and the shape of the head.
Since to cat is from India, it is possible that this sub-species has longer fur than his african cousin due to the cooler climate, especially in northern india.

I have a old friend who is up in years. He has had the good fortune to hunt all over the world. He has many great African trophies as well as tremendous Elk off the White Mountain. Probably 4 over 390.
He asked me and some other friends once upon a time if we wanted any of his trophies when he passed on. He had no children.
I think we all blew him off and told him he would live forever however he did have a set of tusks that were probably 7 feet long. Seeing that I will probably never shoot a Ele, I would not mind having that set of tusks.

Neither of the two cat rugs at the top of this thread is a snow leopard. The tails of snow leopards are as thick as their legs.
