I agree...there is a pic of Wally Johnson very similar.

Nice plug-in... or you could just shoot TRI-X ;-) I know, i know... you don;t have to say it... :-)

Just think it's kinda cool in a world that sought to eliminate grain we now want to put it back, love it!!!

Your pics are always great!

Very nice! So, it is something that we can all do with PhotoShop, correct? Can you explain it to us laymen? (i.e. what it is and how to do it?)

yes very easy, if you buy the program you just install it or you can download it for free from piratebay etc.

When you open Photoshop or elements you just choose what kind of look you want. You can choose vintage, classic, modern etc. Very easy to navigate

UEG sent you a pm

Not to hijack, but his is from a 1924 Kodak Brownie. Do they have a setting on the PS where you can add the film sprockets or info around the edges?? The effect is a damn good one!

I remember asking a photo guy in a high-end camera shop about creating those old style B&W photos(this was back in about 2001, IOW pre-digital). his reply was something to the effect: "Maybe just use cheap B&W film."

Beautiful pics. Elephant and Leopard pictures are really awsome.

Nice trick to shoot the elphant in the brain just as he was walking across that sand bank, falling on his belly. Makes taking that picture sooo much easier. Smiler

Those are very neat photos in black and white. I liked them when I first saw them in color, but B&W is even better.

That elephant photo is a classic! One of the best trophy photos I've ever seen, and way better in Black and White.

Anton,

Fantastic photos, as always! I love black and white vintage-looking photos. About 18 years ago I took some night classes in photography and darkroom. That's when I really fell in love with B&W. On my first safari in 2005 I took two cameras. One of them was a film camera loaded with T-Max 100 B&W film. The pics I took with that camera and film are some of my favorites. Now that I've gone digital, I just change them to B&W in the computer at the photo store I go to. But I will definitely try that program you're using, it sounds great! Thanks!

Anton, you look like a movie star! Ha ha ha...Do you remember being told something similar once? Seriously though, very nicely done. The elephant picture is classic. When are you going to come hunting with Zambezi Hunters again? Do you think you will shoot a bigger elephant elsewhere? Don't forget that massive old boy that was pottering about on the far bank...

Another great one... I love B&W because it gets to the essence of the picture, to me, the 'soul' of the picture. We aren;t wowed or distracted by bright colors or fancy effects, just gets to the heart of what the picture is about.

BTW, that's a hell of a coif Anton, i'm desperately jealous.

Anton - I agree with others - your ele photo is one of the best trophy photos I've ever seen. The impala photo is stunning, things like the shine on the horns and on your gunstock really pop in a B&W photo. Both your leopard pics are awesome, but that one on the rug is a truly classic pose. I believe that's the way the hunters in India used to pose with their leopards and tigers, lying on their side like that. Maybe Nakihunter can confirm that.

Coif is short for the word coiffure - definition: a style of arranging or combing the hair.

BaxterB is just envious of your rakishly handsome golden locks. (rak-ish: adjective - smart, dashing, or having an appearance suggesting speed.)

Yer damn right i'm jealous... I just tell people I wore my hair off doing u-turns on the headboard...

Still...

You are right Anton, the color comes off better than the sepia-ish color in regards to the pic with your brother.

This is good stuff here... what's the story on the brother pic? Moose?

Anton, is that "burned-edge" look on the B&W photo of your brother something that you can select in the program?

Glen, yes you can select that in the program. About "classic" photos, before I go hunting I try to have a couple of different "shots" in my mind that I want to take if im successful of taking the animal, the pose with the rug I had seen in a old book from India.
Baxter, that pic you did with a brown tone is much better, and it was a Roebuck we were scouting, I like how all the mosquitos around his head popped out.
