Its a pig alright, but I can't see it challenging the record typical. Looks like he shot it on a mowed lawn. Cheers, Canuck

Canuck, I think you're right, especially given the size of the drop tine. I think I probably would have gone ahead and shot him though................

The biggest deer around here are often on golf courses. For anyone not from the Eastern US it is hard to believe how many deer there are in the Urban zones. (The limit is 5 does and one buck in the Cincinnati Urban zone.) Don_G ...from Texas, by way of Mason, Ohio and Aurora, Colorado!

Did he actually shoot it on the lawn? "Science only goes so far then God takes over."

I don't know, but here in the Urban Cincinnati area the biggest deer are in the richest neighborhoods (5 acre plots), parks and golf courses. I normally shoot most of my archery deer in people's "back yards" - usually 10 acre "spaghetti farms" that are 250ft across and 600 yards deep. I'm usually on a gully or a creek, where it is not mowed, but the sounds of traffic, dogs barking, kids playing, etc. Usually prevent me from hearing the deer like I often do in deep woods. Don't be thinking they are tame, though. The ones I pursue are seldom about except at 20 minutes before sunrise and 30 minutes after sunset (in other words just at dark.) They are very used to fleeing from people and dogs, and are nervous as cats around a rocking chair. The situation may be different in the parks, but I have never yet gotten permission to hunt in one.
