I just returned home from Argentina where I had the pleasure of meeting and sharing some time in hunting camp with Lorenzo.

He had a great hunt, taking three trophy stags. Here is a photo of one of them.

Any possibility of his returning to this site?

That is a great stag.

Sorry to say, but that link is for a 2010 hunt report.

It's possible he could come back, but not likely.

With new friends like you it will be a pity not to participate again in the forum.

I explained why I left on the topic mboga biga bwana attached.

Honestly was a real honour to met you and your wife during my hunt in Argentina. And the view of your fantastic free range stag is something I will never forget. A real trophy for a real hunter.

I will not allow that the lack of manners from a couple here (including the moderator that was unable at least of sending me a PM before deleting my post given the tragedy that was going on) keep me away from enjoying exchanging experiences with gentlemen like you.

Regards

L

Welcome back Lorenzo, we have all missed you. My wife and I really enjoyed meeting you and sharing in your great hunting success. For one hunter to take the three absolute trophies you took in one weeks time is beyond belief. I know how hard you worked and you richly deserve your success. You are a hunter among hunters.

Please don't forget, you have an open invitation to come to Wyoming for hunting, fishing or just to visit.

Lorenzo is one of the best!

Mike

Never under estimate the internet community to use any opportunity to reply to a post with their personal rant about their tangentially related, single occurrence problem.

What I have learned on AR, since 2001:
1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken.
2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps.
3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges.
4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down.
5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine.
6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle.
7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions.
8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA.
9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not.
10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact.
11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores.
12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence.
13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

Lorenzo,

GREAT to have you back! As Crazyhorse said above, we very much enjoy hearing from you, and reading your hunt reports and seeing your photos. We have all missed you! Please don't let the moderators, or anyone else, turn you off on posting in the future. Everyone makes mistakes, even the moderators! By the way, your English is 10,000 times better than my Spanish!

Lorenzo,
Good to see you back my friend... did you take care of my Texas amigos earlier this month? You didn't have to spring them from jail did you? Congrats on your stags!

Hahaha, no it was not neccesary to spring them from jail... Big Grin

Any news about your lion hunt ?

I hope next year you can do it, I will enjoy sharing some beers and maybe just maybe, we (SBT and I) will tell you about our secrets spots for big ol'deers Big Grin

Tell your friends to post some pictures from their stags !! I know that one of them (the one that talks very low making very difficult for the rest of us to understand him) hunted a good one.

They where classified by the guides as :

"The Short", "The Young", and "The one that nobody understand" Big Grin

Take care
Lorenzo
