This one was taken last year in October. I did post it then. I originally posted in the Handgun thread because of the continued interest in hunting with handguns.

I hunted with my friends, Juan Pablo Pozzi and Alberto Foerster, two of the best outfitters I have ever had the pleasure to be with. I took three boars that trip, one with the Bowen, one with my Marlin 45-70 and one with my cuchillo...and the last with the knife converted me. The best way to hunt boars.

The Bowen. (My favorite) I sent a "virgin" Ruger Bisley to my friend Hamilton Bowen and
he worked his magic.
Cut barrel to 5.5"; install deluxe front sight base with
2 inserts a Baughman white line ramp & a “V†Notch
blade, plus his rear adjustable sight;
"trigger job (3 lb) and tune;
new cylinder (fluted) fit/retime action;
re-bore cylinder chambers & forcing cone;
remove all factory markings;
new Steel ejector tube + install locking cylinder pin;
re bluing of all parts;
to Turnbull for color case hardening of frame and hammer
Install custom made elk antler grips

Loads:

Favorite Hunting handload: zeroed at 35 yards with:
"Leadheads" 270 gr Keith
19.5 grs. 2400
Winchester WLP primer
1270 fps 1 1/8" group

Zeroed at 50 yards with:
Buffalo Bore 300 gr. JFN 1300 fps
3.00 inch group at 50 yds.

I also tried the 325 grain Buffalo bore
at 1300 fps but not comfortable to shoot.

Shot this boar at about 15 feet in chest with the
Buffalo Bore 300 grains with little effect; finished
with a head shot at about 10 feet using my 270 grain
Leadhead load.

With the Marlin at about 40 yards;
With the cuchillo, about 2 inches....!!!

It has become my favorite way to hunt boar, with my cuhcillo and my bowie. Exciting. And very quick kill.
