I wondered on what caliber is the best for Waterbuffalo and Cebues, i wil lget an 404 Jeffery soon, and i thought the workhorse of Africa will be the workhorse of (South)America.

Or should i bring the .450 NE Ruger nr over next winter....

Mr.Rigby: The 404 is absolutely right. Nevertheless, I think that with that kind of beasts the bigger the better. Don´t forget to bring ammo with you due to local regulations and the scarcity of such calibers here.

That 404 will be perfect for water buffalos and or cebues (don`t get confident with the latter ones in spite their status of domestic bovines ! speaking from own experience here ...)

I hope i get enough cash for them but with story of the buffalo in the night run , or as i read it m running with el Diablo the 404 sounds like a sound rifle fir them, , and with 400 or 450 grain bullets it will stop most of whats walking here.

I have wanted to chase the Cebues for a while since im from a farm and it fascinates me that they can get that wild and behave like an buffalo or worse ..

...and some of them look at you with the old Ruarkian mood, even when you don´t owe them money . One of my friends had to segregate one of his bulls which had mixed blood. When one of us neared the fence, that cantankerous brute seemed to be ready to kill anyone daring enough to enter his field. I never attempted it. Very closely related to your Brahma cattle, I think.

I would feel confident with a .375 H&H, or 45-70 using one of Randy Garrett's heavy loads. You would feel even more confident if you took me along as a back up.

I think i have to have you as backup in the thickets after the buffalo or Cebues. There is much fine Senoritas that would cry if i was wounded in battle....

but the 404 will be an good sledge in the thicket to use on the big game for me .
