As you know, we get friends over about 2 or 3 times a week.

Generally it is boys get together, but we do appreciate the ladies joining us when they wish.

Despite a sign here saying

BOYS CLUB HOUSE
NO GIRLS
NO DOLLS
NO PINK STUFF!

Ladies are given temporary honorary membership - they love this!

Anyway, a little while back we decided on trying new steak and chicken recipes.

We change then every week.

We are trying to improve our own home recipes.

But this lot aren’t very helpful!

A couple of meals are prepared, and we ask the participants to give us they suggestions on what improve.

Apparently they don’t get any decent food at home - more dig at their wives! Who never stop threatening me with unspeakable physical harm. But, being women totally forget what is said on the phone and give me a hug instead?? Confused

Any, we aren’t getting anywhere in improving our recipes.

Exact time we serve something the comments are “MMM! This is good!”

I will have to think of something really inedible to serve next!

Saeed, I recommend some pork bacon, sausages, biscuits with sausage gravy to tune things up in the desert.

Rock on! Wink

Ann,

In our culture only pigs eat pigs!

In your culture people eat pigs, to the extent that some actually look like pigs! rotflmo

Saeed,

Ever try a cheesesteak sandwich? The Wife and my version starts with thin/chipped delmonico steak. It is NOT a Philly cheese steak, just similar.
Got access to a long Italian style roll?
Be glad to write it down.

More upwind near Hershey Chocolate. I'm about 90 minutes away from Philly. As a young adult we never heard anything about Philly cheese steaks. Somehow they got the title over the years.
My first cheese steak was in my hometown of Richland PA in Lebanon County an hour from Phila. It came on a soft roll with superthin steak that was cooked on a flat top grill with lot of onions, topped with sauce and white american cheese then steamed. It was awesome. That first one got me hooked for life. My version scores about a 9.5 out of 10. Sometimes I make it perfect, sometimes it's a near miss.
ABOUT philly cheesesteaks - Not all cheesesteaks made in Phila. are the same. We tried one located right inside the door at the farmers market. Gave it a 1, terrible.

OK, someone will no doubt be offended, but this brings to mind the old Arab adage, "For children, a woman; for pleasure, a boy; but for the ultimate in worldly delights, a melon."

Agree….. the “famous” places in philly use a dairy product with cheap cuts sliced very thin

Terrible……….

You try it once to see what all the fuss is about.

But with good beef or venison and good cheddar cheese……all the difference in the world

And about farmers markets
The oyster sandwich at the Green Dragon Farmers market is worth the drive

I am a bit peculiar in my tastes.

But, talking of sandwiches, he made 3 varieties of sandwiches to go with all the other bake he prepares for our Saturday breakfast in the desert.

Friends wives took all the left over sawhorses home!

For tomorrow I have asked him to make more.

Have to keep the women’s mouths busy, instead of yipyapping! rotflmo

Well.
Here's the recipe. If it doesn't sound appealing, forget it.

Slice up some sweet onions very thin and add them to bit of olive oil in a frying pan. Turn the heat on high while you pull apart your super thin shaved steak and put it on top of the onions. Add salt & pepper. Cook for 5 minutes on high. Then reduce the heat to medium high. Steam the rolls one or two at a time for 20 seconds on top of the meat with the lid on and put them on a serving plate with a thin spread of Cheese Whiz or thin slices of your favorite cheese. As the onion softens take a large spoon and stir and chop everything up a bit to smaller pieces. Let it cook until the moisture from the onions is almost gone. Add a few tablespoons of spring water and stir. Seperate into long piles the length of the 1/3 meter long italian roll. Add some white american cheese or some thin sliced Greyere cheese to the top and put the lid back on for 30 seconds. Transfer the mix to the rolls and your ready to eat.
