Not personal experience with them. There are some loads in Shotgun Slug Loading & Field Application. Let me know your e-mail and I can send a copy to you. Also for .715" round balls.

There used to be information about roundball loads for the 12 ga. But it's hard to find now.

I've never loaded round ball because I thought the accuracy would be miserable.

But it would be interesting to see how these actually perform!

I load .690's for USPSA three gun. Been doing it for about 15 years or so. As cast my .690's come out right at 500 grains. 547 grains is 1& 1/4 ounce. I started loading with PB powder and a low charge, raising it up a half grain at a time until my 1100 would function every time.

Use only Winchester AA 118 wads. Nothing else works for beans. Cast pure lead only. [ or as pure as you can get]. Accuracy requires some choke in your gun. Never got any good results with open chokes. My 1100 with the improved modified choke in it will hit bowling pins at 50 yds consistantly.

Loads only chrony at 1150 or so but put holes in paper and make 1100 cycle with no recoil to speak of.

I repeat Winchester AA wads only. Blows the petals off anything else I've tried. Use the white ounce and one eight was. Nice crimp in a AA hull. Be safe, enjoy.

Pure lead .690" balls come out at about 487 gr. A .690" with any alloy would weigh less than that.

Doesn't the WAA12 wad leave some room for movement for the .690" ball?

No filler wads needed in/over the wad to bring it up to crimp?!! bewildered

There was a load in the lyman shotshell handbook
4th edition? with a pumpkin ball in an RXP wad and star crimped.

I loaded a bunch of them and had some fun lobbing them around the countryside from my rifled barrel....
