Eley markets 2 1/2 inch shells.
If you have access to the double gun journal, Sherman Bell has a series of articles in there about short shot shells.

One of the older Hodgon Manuals have recipes for the 2 1/2 twelves.

If you own a gun and you are not a member of the NRA and other pro 2nd amendment organizations then YOU are part of the problem.

Hunta,

First question; Do you want to reload or shoot factory?

2. Are you willing to do what it takes to reload for 2.5? It's not all that hard. I actually like it.

3. High volume shooting or just a simple hunting season's worth of shells?

4. Tell me about the forcing cones in the gun; sharply angled or long and gentle? If you can "see" the angle their more than like sharp. If it's hard to see any taper, than likely long and gentle.

Alan

I forgot. Some stuff which should help.

If you were in the USA I would suggest Holland & Holland 2-1/2" shotgun shells but I don't know about availability in New Zealand.

My primary game gun is a 2.5" chambered gun, in the UK this is not an issue at all.

All the main companies load 2.5" 3 ton proof shells suitable for game, I like the following:

Gamebore super game 30g no.5

Eley grandprix/impax 30g no.5

Hull cartridge High Pheasant 30g no.5 (My favourite)

All are perfectly alright for a 2 1/2" chamber and good on game.

Closest thing to your "favourite" load in the USA is Holland & Holland 'Royal' Game, 1-1/16oz, #6 - and, like your favorite, loaded for H&H by Hull Cartridge in the UK. FYI - UK 30g no.5 translates to US 1-1/16oz, #6.
