I did end up ordering a Rubicon JL. Went with the Rubicon due to the bigger tires, 4:10 gears, front and rear lockers, and better axles. Options include the 3.6, 8 speed auto, LED lights, hardtop, and tow package. It isn't rated to tow very much but the tow package gives you four extra electrical connections for adding stuff so it will come in handy at some point if adding lights, winch, etc. We have always owned 2 door Jeeps due to their maneuverability and ease to park. With no kids at home we don't need the room the JLU has. The back seat will be removed as soon as I get the time. We are fortunate enough to also own a Expedition and crew cab Super Duty. I'll pick it up later this week. My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

A real 2 door Jeep. Cool red color and with selective electronic lockers and BFG's. Let us know how the ride is on the hard road with those BFG's. Back in the day Radial T/A's were nice cushy tires. Nice tread pattern there, not too aggressive. Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.

I run those KO2's on both my Cummins Rams. Love them. Excellent all around performance without horrible highway drone. Our JL was supposed to have KO2's but the factory screwed up and put Falken Wildpeaks on her. I was pissed. They have a more aggressive mud tire pattern and I was sure they would be noisy on the highway and likely bad in the snow. Turned out to be great on the highway and tough as nails offload. They are decent in the snow but terrible on ice. I picked up a second set of wheels and Falkens at a good price from a guy that put a lift and bigger tires on his rig and had them studded. AWESOME!! ______________________ DRSS ______________________ Hunt Reports 2015 His & Her Leopards with Derek Littleton of Luwire Safaris - http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/2971090112 2015 Trophy Bull Elephant with CMS http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/1651069012 DIY Brooks Range Sheep Hunt 2013 - http://forums.accuratereloadin...901038191#9901038191 Zambia June/July 2012 with Andrew Baldry - Royal Kafue http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/7971064771 Zambia Sept 2010- Muchinga Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/4211096141 Namibia Sept 2010 - ARUB Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/6781076141

Firecracker Red......very nice. Smart choice going with the Rubicon. There are other features you didn't mention. Yes the four Aux Switches are worth the tow package. Same reason we ordered it. I've already run the light bar to one and in the infotainment screen you can tell the switch whether you want it to he hot all the time or switched with the ignition. Nice feature. Our wince I ran straight to the battery terminals. No need to have it switched and you can save those for other needs later. Glad to hear someone pays attention to tires. My AWD ride has Perelli M+S's and they suck (slippery in most any weather except dry, a little pitter-pattery on the dry) - not even close to the quality of Michelin LTZ's or whatever they call them now. Can hardly wait for them to wear out. Oh, the sidewalls are thin and rupture easily. Cheers.

I just saw this. Love Joyce's new toy. Great looking and very useful! Do you do anything to protect the paint and windshield when you tow? It's rare in my experience visiting the daughter and family in Eagle River for me to see a vehicle in Alaska without a broken or chipped windshield.

"KINI", Joyce's JL's name had a crack in the windshield at 1,500 miles. We ignore them unless they run through the field of view. "BIG BUTT" the black Cummins dually has a cracked winshield that literally goes all the way around the edge but the field of vision is spared. "BIG RED", my zombie apocalypse Cummins has a replacement windshield that is still unscathed. BTW, sent you a PM. One dealer up here has one coming in and they tacked 20K onto the sticker. ______________________ DRSS ______________________ Hunt Reports 2015 His & Her Leopards with Derek Littleton of Luwire Safaris - http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/2971090112 2015 Trophy Bull Elephant with CMS http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/1651069012 DIY Brooks Range Sheep Hunt 2013 - http://forums.accuratereloadin...901038191#9901038191 Zambia June/July 2012 with Andrew Baldry - Royal Kafue http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/7971064771 Zambia Sept 2010- Muchinga Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/4211096141 Namibia Sept 2010 - ARUB Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/6781076141

I bet all dealers are jacking up the prices on these. I walk out when they pull that crap. Some people just gotta have it and pay the price. I see a lot of the SRT’s here. I doubt people are paying full price for them.

When I picked up my JL yesterday I asked about the Jeep with the hemi. The answer was Jeep has still not finalized the price nor have they built one as of Feb 24th. However rumor mill has pegged it around $75K. MSRP will mean nothing on this model as you can bet dealers will tack on huge ADM's. Personally I see this as an accident waiting to happen on such a short wheel base vehicle with a high center of gravity. But the coolness factor is huge! My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

Having had my share of muscle cars I get the penile enhancement factor but this old guy has the same torque rating with the 3.0 diesel at 24-30 MPG instead of 14-17. ______________________ DRSS ______________________ Hunt Reports 2015 His & Her Leopards with Derek Littleton of Luwire Safaris - http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/2971090112 2015 Trophy Bull Elephant with CMS http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/1651069012 DIY Brooks Range Sheep Hunt 2013 - http://forums.accuratereloadin...901038191#9901038191 Zambia June/July 2012 with Andrew Baldry - Royal Kafue http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/7971064771 Zambia Sept 2010- Muchinga Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/4211096141 Namibia Sept 2010 - ARUB Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/6781076141

Yep. Torque is what moves you up and down the road. Horsepower is maximum full peak horsepower. The latter sells like hotcakes. Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.

One small downside to that 442 Ft. lb - ft. of torque is how much I have to feather the pedal starting out from a stop. Spins the tires very easily in snow and ice. Once rolling a few feet it's fine. ______________________ DRSS ______________________ Hunt Reports 2015 His & Her Leopards with Derek Littleton of Luwire Safaris - http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/2971090112 2015 Trophy Bull Elephant with CMS http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/1651069012 DIY Brooks Range Sheep Hunt 2013 - http://forums.accuratereloadin...901038191#9901038191 Zambia June/July 2012 with Andrew Baldry - Royal Kafue http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/7971064771 Zambia Sept 2010- Muchinga Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/4211096141 Namibia Sept 2010 - ARUB Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/6781076141

HA! Custombolt, that reminded me of a saying going around in the 70s. "He wasn't a big fellow, but he had a lot of torque." Never mistake motion for action.

I have them on my car and they are great on snow good on ice and quiet.
