Anyone have any experience with SL550's in the 2007's or anything close to that year. I have my eye on one and welcome any info, pro or con. Thanks. CB Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.

Had a 2004 E-500 sedan with a sport package and loved it. Sold it when I retired. I had to sell either the Benz or my Gen II Cummins Dodge. No choice. ______________________ DRSS ______________________ Hunt Reports 2015 His & Her Leopards with Derek Littleton of Luwire Safaris - http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/2971090112 2015 Trophy Bull Elephant with CMS http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/1651069012 DIY Brooks Range Sheep Hunt 2013 - http://forums.accuratereloadin...901038191#9901038191 Zambia June/July 2012 with Andrew Baldry - Royal Kafue http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/7971064771 Zambia Sept 2010- Muchinga Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/4211096141 Namibia Sept 2010 - ARUB Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/6781076141

Sorry for your loss. Those Benz V-8's are so smooth and quiet. Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.

The last decade of the good MBs. I bought my wife an SL 550 (Mediterranean blue/stone) to replace her 40th birthday gift a Jag XK8. She loved that car. It was reliable and a pleasure to drive, much better than the portly, slow and poorly handling Jag it replaced. I wound up trading my S 55 for an SL 55 I liked it so much. God I just loved those blown AMG V8s of that era. Again, though IMO that was the last decade of the MBs that genuinely reflected their reputation. You can't go wrong with it. And the SL 550 is just an absolutely lovely car. There are two types of people in the world: those that get things done and those who make excuses. There are no others.

Thanks for the input Frank. I liked the grille and had drove a Jaguar from the early 2000's that reminded my of the grille of the old drop head coupe XK-140. The 4 door was cooler than most yet handling and throttle response was cumbersome. As for the red SL550 near Chicago, I was about to make an offer, then had talked to the original servicing dealer in Florida, got a car check report and a pre-inspection done on this car and decided to pass. Several undisclosed deep blemishes and a couple 2 sq. in. chunks out of the lower edge of the bumper cover weren't shown by the seller. I couldn't get any details on an accident from 5 years ago as well. So, I thought it best to pass without making an offer. A bumper shell redo won't be cheap if done by a top MB body shop. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2007-M...%26sd%3D142380464103 Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.

Yep. A shame for sure. Learned long ago, look closely at auction cars. This car was shipped to Manheim Auction 40 minutes from me from the western Florida coast then ended up in Chicago. Drove 2.5 hours to a Benz dealer in Maryland on Monday to check out a white one with 44,000 miles listed on Ebay. Couldn't find the car on the lot. Salesman said we don't have any 2008 SL550's here. Must have been at some other dealership. Still listed for sale or best offer, same dealer. There will be others. Life itself is a gift. Live it up if you can.
