The good news just keeps on coming.

When I bought the car to Portugal, she had beautiful side exhausts on and the vehicle inspectors took one look at them and told me that had to go so I had them removed and replaced with a standard system.

Took the car back for it's annual inspection recently and the same inspectors told me the side pipes could go back on as long as they went through an EU approved silencer box to quieten them down a bit so the truck is now in the shop having that done!

there's just a certain "Sweet Spot" with an exhaust system. Quiet enough to keep the authorities off your ass, and mellow enough to enliven the driving experience.

It'll be interesting to see how noisy she is with the new system.

I'm having a few jobs done on the old girl while she's in the shop but once they're done she'll be tickety boo & IF (note the big IF) I can find a Portuguese speaking navigator, I hope to enter her for the London-Lisbon rally next year......... Haven't mentioned it to 'Er Indoors yet and she might have something to say on that one though!
