Exactly!! There were only 1412 A12 liftoff hood Roadrunners and 1907 A12 Superbees made in 1969. The demand was there but the supply was not. The reason......Edlebrock could not supply the aluminum 3 x 2 hi-rise manifolds beyond those numbers. Mopar switched to a cast iron manifold in 1970 and kept the production in house. ______________________ DRSS ______________________ Hunt Reports 2015 His & Her Leopards with Derek Littleton of Luwire Safaris - http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/2971090112 2015 Trophy Bull Elephant with CMS http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/1651069012 DIY Brooks Range Sheep Hunt 2013 - http://forums.accuratereloadin...901038191#9901038191 Zambia June/July 2012 with Andrew Baldry - Royal Kafue http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/7971064771 Zambia Sept 2010- Muchinga Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/4211096141 Namibia Sept 2010 - ARUB Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/6781076141

Frostbit, iirc, in 70 and 71 production the stick shift cars and drag paks got the aluminum, but the torqueflites got the iron...?

Don't believe so Rich. They were all cast iron and quite a bit heavier. The aluminum manifolds could be bought after market direct from edlebrock and from 'direct connection' and some folks did that to save weight. ______________________ DRSS ______________________ Hunt Reports 2015 His & Her Leopards with Derek Littleton of Luwire Safaris - http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/2971090112 2015 Trophy Bull Elephant with CMS http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/1651069012 DIY Brooks Range Sheep Hunt 2013 - http://forums.accuratereloadin...901038191#9901038191 Zambia June/July 2012 with Andrew Baldry - Royal Kafue http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/7971064771 Zambia Sept 2010- Muchinga Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/4211096141 Namibia Sept 2010 - ARUB Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/6781076141

Yup!! All the 1970 440-6 intakes were Cast Iron. ______________________ DRSS ______________________ Hunt Reports 2015 His & Her Leopards with Derek Littleton of Luwire Safaris - http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/2971090112 2015 Trophy Bull Elephant with CMS http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/1651069012 DIY Brooks Range Sheep Hunt 2013 - http://forums.accuratereloadin...901038191#9901038191 Zambia June/July 2012 with Andrew Baldry - Royal Kafue http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/7971064771 Zambia Sept 2010- Muchinga Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/4211096141 Namibia Sept 2010 - ARUB Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/6781076141

I bought mine (engine) out of a 71 R/T Charger that a guy had slid about a hundred yards on the roof. Looked like a convertible. I ran with the Scat Pack guys from Rixman Dodge in StL, and got a deal on an Edelbrock STR manifold for mine. It cut my times by nearly half a second.

Rich, I'm sure this is old news by now but my new Autoweek shows the new Ford GT and... they are going to LeMans in 2016. Also there was an article on Henry Ford III. He's 33 years old and, I guess, responsible for the new racing program. The car looks kinda yummy. Dick Wright

Frostbit, you may know better, but the 6-pak intake off the 71 R/T was aluminum. I put a magnet on it before we pulled it. Talk to Galen if you want to know the story.
