Well given that I am living in Africa full time now, it was time to sell my 1972 Blazer. Lots of work and fun, it was the most enjoyable vehicle I have owned. Some day I hope to have another one. The new owner came and got it yesterday.

What classics have you all let go?

My first vehicle was a '72 Chevy C 20 pickup. It had been my grandfathers. It was medium green with the name of his business painted on the door. Growing up on the northshore of Chicago suburbs it was the only pickup in my HS parking lot. The 350 4bbl with a low rearend made it quick. It surprised more than one yuppy on a date trying to impress his girlfriend.

I sure wish I still had that truck.

Bar none, the most reliable, plush, comfortable car getting almost 30 MPG when fuel was getting crazy expensive at at times scarce.

Joyce and I were "traveling contract nurses" for ten years of our married life. Lived and worked in 31 locations in 14 different States. We started out in that Peugeot and eventually pulled a small trailer behind it. The car never let us down. I foolishly sold it when we "settled" in Florida and built a house in '88. Still not sure why I sold it.

Not sure how she could have slipped my mind but.....

1976 Jeep CJ-5 bought new with a 304. Added Accell distributor, Edlebrok torquer manifold, 780 CFM dual feed holley four barrel, and hooker headers into a short side exhaust with dumps pre-muffler. Had 8 point full cage welded in with Lakewood harnesses and a fuel cell. Front and rear "rough country" suspension with progressive gas shocks. Axle trusses as well. You drive the thing off a four foot jump and it wouldn't care.

Joyce and I raced it in the East Coast 4WD association meets in PA, DE, and MD including drags, hill climb, and obstacle course. Fun, fun, fun!! Definitely miss that rig. Would be a perfect tow behind for our "white whale" up here.

1969 Plymouth Roadrunner, Dark Green, 383, 4 speed bench seats.

26 years later I have another one, this one with matching numbers, in my metal building being restored, good motor and transmission, rust in the usual places, lots of work. This one will likely be Dark Green as well and will stay with me.
