If shooting a 370 grn maxiball, what would be good killing velocities for each type of game? I'm using a .50cal Encore, Triple7 powder, in a 15" barrel. Trying to get usable velocities with these slugs without hurting myself too much. I know these are a little large for a handgun, but they were a good deal, so what the heck!

1300 to 1500 FPS, depending on what you can stand, is plenty for a .50 cal Maxiball!!

I concur with eldo. In fact, I have killed three elk with the same bullet at about 1500 fps, all with one shot,and travelling no more than 35 yds. following the hit. This is an excellent bullet for deep penetration! I use 100 gr of Goex ffg. Take care-----------Chuck
