Anyone know where to get black powderbuckshot shells?

Or a recipe for making these would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Recipe is easy - 80-90 gr of any 2fg powder you want, a nitro wad, a fiber wad, fill to top with shot, crimp and go. Bout all there is to it.

I agree with Brent.

I have used the same load for years and it works great. I shoot skeet, pheasants and grouse with this load. Definitely use fiber wads, the plastic ones melt and make a mess of the barrel.

Have fun with blackpowder!!! clap

I agree, BP shotshells are vastly satisfying - but watch out for burning your hand on the barrels, BP makes far more heat than smokeless!

The classic BP shotshell web page:

Tom Bullock's black powder shotshells.

Do not waste your time and money on ffg, you WILL NOT get enought vel, Use fffg It has proven to be a much at getting the needed vel to kill, cleanly. I was using GOEX for all my shotshell loading.(10&12ga goose loads)

I would not use Elephant Brand for my loads rither.

There is no problem making good loads out of 2fg. I do it most of the time. In fact, either 2fg or 1.5fg is about all I ever use. And that is for pheasants, ducks, geese, turkeys. Works great.

Elephant Brand Powder went extinct many years ago (at least 5 if not more).

Goex or Swiss.

Brand is not so important as which batch.

If batches are different, then brands matter. All brands are not equal in "strength".

Keith,
In the early 2000s, Goex has been nearly as slow as Elephant was before it died.

No batch of Swiss has been even close to as fast as the very first shipment that came over and which was sold (illegally) in relabled Goex Cans.

At least one recent batch of Goex Exp 2fg will equal or beat the speed of any batch of Swiss 2fg or 1.5 fg that I have tests (4 or 5 in total) except the very first batch of Swiss.

This is all from my direct measurements. Not hear-say or best guesses. Brands do not matter, batches do. That said, I have killed pheasants, geese, ducks and even eland, with some of the very slowest 2f that Goex ever produced.
