Well kids the big game season is over for me for another year. Now I can learn what I can do with my new 300 win. on the smaller stuff. I would really appreciate knowing if anyone has a pet load for a 300 win mag pushing 110Gr. bullets.
I know there will be some that tell me to buy a 22-250 or the new 204 Ruger but I'm appealing to the guy out there that has a wife and a budget that makes him use what he's allowed. I have a spanking new Ruger #1 stainless and I want to play.

And a quick FYI, on that 110 gr. .308 bullet. Lotta folks have reported that they had trouble getting accuracy out of it, in larger .30 cartridges.
I load this bullet in the .308 over a charge of Unique. Works good inside 75 yards for most close range varminting, but past that, the varmint had best be pretty big.
The 110 can be driven at very high velocities from the .300 WM, but it is not a particularly good weight for a .30 cal., particularly one with a klarge case capacity. it is almost like shooting a round ball because of its' poor sectional density and awful ballistic coefficient. I believe you'd be better served by a 130 or even a frangible 150-grain for shooting varmints with the .300 Win. Mag. However, if you insist on shooting the 110's, try a starting load of 77 grains of H4831, and work up until you get good accuracy. I'd say 84 to 85 grains of this powder would probably be about max., but all guns are different!! As a matter of fact, you might never get varmint rifle accuracy from such a light bulllet in a 1/10" twist .308 barrel.
Can't help with the 300 mag load, but I have played with the 110 V-MAX in my '06 and it will go MOA or better at 100 yds. I load 55 grains of IMR 4064 with a CCI BR-2 primer for about 3300 FPS. Good shooting, Wyo
