Jim BrainardI remember reading in Handloader that he got the rifle and he also sent an original rear sight for Shiloh to put on it. I'll have to look it up.

TCLouisIf that rifle finds a home where it will receive proper care, be shot and enjoyed for what it is and what it represents, then I can think of no better disposition!

boom stickCongrats Rich!
Now crop out your street number

I might be tempted

Are you going to use it or just use it for seances to communicate with the great EK?

Idaho SharpshooterOkay Biebs, I called Turnbull Friday morning, and the shipping dept says I have a guaranteed Monday (tomorrow) delivery.
I will likely get pictures up tomorrow afternoon.
You will have to totally abase yourself to get pictures of my 90+% serial number 36XX Model 70 22 Hornet Carbine though...
Boomie, no problem! Anybody comes looking for it, I can always show them my Glock 22.

boom stickRich... Are you going to use it in Africa?

Idaho SharpshooterI do hope to return in late summer of 2014.
It is a sad time; I must confess that even I am beginning to be affected by this stinking economy. Either that or a total lack of discipline when I nice rifle catches my eye.
That, and an intensified interest in adding rifles like this to my vault, along with having gunsmiths build rifles like the Turnbull M71/86.
I am hoping to return one more time to Africa for a good Eland. Leopard, if the opportunity presents itself. But, a big Eland would be the focus...
This rifle would go, I have an MVA scope coming in two weeks, and 400 brand shiny new Starline 45-90 cases sitting on a shelf.
My good friend is almost finished with a 375 on a commercial magnum mauser. A bit more sanding, and some checkering and an oil finish on the stock.

boom stickRich. I hope that leopard gets an Elmer Keith Bullet out of his own rifle. Wishing you the best between now and the hunt.
