I've been pondering similar options. Judging from the site of the Montana Rifleman, I believe they will rebarrel a No. 1 with one of the octagons made in house.

Who makes a good octagon barrel for a Ruger #1 26"
Lothar Walther I think makes one but that is the only one I ever heard of. Fred M
