I am looking at putting together a 1000yd. capable Encore rifle and want to know what you guys think of this. I have about 300 rounds of 6mm Remington laying in the basement that got me thinking about the 6mm Remington Ackley Imp.. My thoughts are to get a bull barrel in this caliber that is about 30" long with a 1:7" twist. This would allow me to shoot some of the VLD bullets available from Sierra and Lost River. I would top it with a Weaver T36 scope.

Am I crazy?

While I love my Encore, I do not think you will have much luck using it as a 1000 yard rifle. The problems are that the break open action of a encore will not be as solid as a bolt action, and the forearm can't be totally free-floated, so the Encore is finicky on forearm pressure or placement.
I liked the idea, and even have a VVG built, shilen match grade select barrel in a 257 WBY that I built to try for long range. While the barrel is accurate, the Encore will be hard pressed to get the accuracy you want at that distance.
