I just picked up a 1981 Red Pad Ruger No 1 with a broken butt stock. Does any one know if a later stock will fit an older reciever? I don't want to buy a newer stock off the internet and have it not fit. Thanks in advance for any help. PS I would like to buy an older stock if anyone has one laying around.

All Number one frames and stocks, are the same. Ruger will fit a new one for you.

You can buy new wood directly from Ruger. You'll have to ship the gun to Ruger.
