Gents, I recently purchased a Pedersoli sharps rifle in 45-70. To run a little lead down it before I start reloading, would some factory stuff from walmart be ok?....wapiti7

Almost all factory ammo for the 45/70 is loaded to Trap Door pressures so they will be wimp loads for your Sharps, but still fun to shoot.

The SAAMI pressures for the 45-70 are 27,000 but the typical factory loads run only about 18,000 which still work very well on deer.Potent loads within the 27,000 can be found no need to make a magnum out of it.
