find a cheap used #1 - they are out there & you should be able to find one for 350-400 though it may need a refinish job

I haven't seen even a badly beat up Number One for sale that cheap. I did pick up a somewhat rough looking #1B in 25-06 to use as a donor, but as they say, don't shoot the donor. damn thing is one of the most accurate #1's I own.
