I have a stainless MRC short mag action in the safe with no real plans for a finished rifle......got to wondering about the 376 in this action, so I tried it. The mag box is perfect lengthwise......I tried dummy rounds with 270 SP and 300 round nose bullets.... it easily holds 4 down and seems to feed fine.......my question......is the larger bolt face of the mag action too big to function reliably with the steyr case??? I originally purchased this action with a 338 WSM or a 350 Rem Mag in mind........I already have a Steyr Pro Hunter in 376, but it sure would be nice to have a stainless CRF in 376!

Hey Jeffe I'm not sure we are communicating here..... This is a MAGNUM bolt face...as in WSM....the mag case head is larger than the steyr case head......I'm concerned that the bolt face is too large to work with the steyr case head????

AHHH>... i should have read better.... i would not use the .530 bolt on the .500 steyr.. but I would also run it past MRC, if you can get a swapped out bolt. jeffe opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round?
