If it is already set up with the magnum (.532") bolt face can is be opened up to the .404 Jeff case head. I am thinking of a wildcat the same length as the .458 Win Mag.

Hey Joe,
Thinking of taking it to 416, 458, or 470, to fit in a standard ruger action?

do a search in big bores on the 416 AR, 458 AR, or 470 AR...

416 - 2480fps with a 400gr
458 - 2320fps with a 500gr
470 - 2380fps with a 500 gr (max load for that powder

with designs from .223 to .475 bullets in progress

email me offline for info
here's a link to them

and they look like this

Was thinking of taking one in .458 Winnie and having it rechambered to .450 Vincent Short. The AR round looks good too. Will it fit on the standard length Ruger action? Wonder what the pressure is for the 458 AR @ 2320 fps?

Just went to your web site and saw they will fit the action.

Joe,
take a look (and search) in Big bore's on them... without mod, 2 down, 1 up.. minor work, 3 down.

the body is slightly longer than the vincent short, and the neck shorter than the long..

and the case slightly larger (than the vincent OR the lott) in capacity.

if you accept "reading primers" and reloads, the AR rounds, at 2300+ (from a 22" barrel) look "better" than 270winnie or 7rem mag.. or even the lott, if you stoke one up to 2300fps (~4% bigger case)
